In 5 months, Crestone Community Food Programs - managed by Jules & Crow & amazing volunteers under Community Care Collective - distributed food to 800 unique individuals, totalling 4400 visits in which individuals received free groceries. This is quite an accomplishment for a new food distribution program. Starting this week, La Puente (based in Alamosa) took over management of the food bank building. La Puente’s team will ensure that the pantry is stocked and that food is distributed equitably.

We, Crestone Community Food Programs, in partnership with Care and Share, generous donors, and granters (including The Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger, Blue Credit Union Foundation, SLVREC, and Saguache County Sales Tax Grants) will continue to provide food access to community members so that no one goes without.

We are expanding the Crestone Charter School Pantry and Backpack programs, and we are helping to support and expand access to USDA programs locally.

In Community Care Collective’s clinic programs and in future grocery distributions, we will continue to provide foods for specific dietary needs, high quality produce as well as local eggs and meat, and food most in demand by our neighbors.

As our distribution plans come together, we will hold another volunteer orientation to grow our team and provide more access because nourishment is a RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE.
