The Eating Disorder Foundation

The Eating Disorder Foundation Nonprofit providing free, non-clinical peer-support services to those impacted by eating disorders

Support groups: Our support groups are at the heart of the EDF program, providing safe places for those with eating disorders and their families to grow and to learn from one another. EDF’s support groups are offered on a drop-in basis and are free of charge. These groups not only have helped many who are touched by eating disorders, but also have served as a springboard from which lasting, suppor

tive friendships have grown. Education and outreach: EDF’s efforts include age-specific presentations about body image and eating disorders given free of charge to schools and community organizations throughout Colorado. We exhibit at professional conferences and health fairs for school nurses, counselors, and coaches associations, to name a few. EDF also hosts networking & educational events for eating disorder treatment professionals in the community as a way for these dedicated professionals to connect to their peers, share resources and expertise. Mentorship: Our mentorship program matches qualified mentors with someone who is in need of a little extra help on their path to recovery. EDF mentors provide one-on-one support and act as a role model to their mentee, while encouraging recovery by using healthy coping strategies.

Another round of our CAREGIVER mentorship program is starting!

If you are seeking support from someone who understands what you are going through as a caregiver, now is the time to fill out your caregiver mentee application. Through EDF’s Caregiver Mentorship Program, we will match you with a caregiver mentor who has walked the path and understands the complexity of supporting a loved one on their recovery journey. This 10-week program will provide one-on-one support during weekly connections. We strongly believe in the power of connection, meaningful conversations, and creating a community of like-minded individuals. We welcome individuals from all states in the US. Please note that this program has a limited number of available mentors, so there is no guarantee you will be paired.

Submit your application by July 22nd at 4PM MT at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf4a-N4_YGZMKg3Yc1ypiebImQKgTIOtPIXaGKzVw-rILcUzQ/viewform

Colorado Members - Make Your Voice Heard!

If you followed EDF's advocacy efforts in 2024, you may remember our victory in passing SB24-117 "Eating Disorder Treatment & Recovery Programs," which brought eating disorder treatment facilities into Colorado's regulatory systems and asked the Behavioral Health Administration to create regulations surrounding common experiences in treatment.

This success happened because of the powerful testimony of our partner organizations and of community members who shared their experiences with legislators. Now it's time for the next step - sharing with regulators who will turn this legislation into action and make Colorado's treatment landscape the best in the nation.

Starting with virtual or in-person listening sessions, you have the opportunity to share with regulators about your lived experience with treatment in Colorado - what worked, what didn't, and what needs to change. Later, you'll get the chance to see what those regulations will look like and share your thoughts.

If you're a professional member of the community, there are also sessions for you to share how these rules will work in your treatment practices.
