When Launice Freeny-Brown woke up early one morning feeling unwell—extremely fatigued, short of breath, and with a pulsing in her chest—she planned to stay home and rest. Instead, she made a quick call to cancel her doctor’s appointment.
That call changed everything.
While speaking with Intermountain Health contact care specialist Kim Headley, something didn’t feel right. Launice was struggling to catch her breath and described severe chest pain.
Before the transfer could be completed, the call dropped.
Knowing the signs of a possible cardiac emergency, Tonya took action—calling 911 and directing emergency responders to Launice’s home. Within minutes, paramedics arrived at her door.
Launice was having a heart attack.
Because of the quick thinking and coordination and expertise of her heart care team at Saint Joe's, she received the urgent she needed, just in time.
Three months later, Launice returned to Saint Joseph Hospital to meet the caregivers who helped save her life, sharing her gratitude and the powerful reminder that listening, teamwork, and compassion can make all the difference.
At Intermountain Health, we’re here to listen, to act, and to care—when it matters most.
