Disenchanted by the insurance-controlled operations of the United States healthcare system and tired of the inaccessibility to my patients, I am a rheumatologist launched my own direct care practice for rheumatology called UnabridgedMD, in Denver, CO. Disenchanted by the insurance-controlled operations of the United States healthcare system and tired of the inaccessibility to my patients, I launched my own direct care practice for rheumatology, UnabridgedMD. With my direct care practice model, my patients benefit from a deeper connection with and a level of accessibility and service that is unmatched by competitors. UnabridgedMD allows me to build stronger connections with my patients to study and treat their conditions on a deeper level to provide the unwavering treatment and care they need, physically, mentally, and emotionally. At 40, I was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. As an expertly-trained clinician and physician-scientist, I never paid attention to eastern healing principles until my own experience during my cancer treatment. My own experience forced me to go deeper. Eastern healing principles supplemented my western medicine throughout my treatment, allowing me to take control of my own healing in ways that I never thought possible. Finding psychological and emotional healing helped my body recover its natural balance, and I have been utilizing these principles in my practice ever since. My patients have responded extremely well to a blended treatment that unites the best of both western and modern healing. From a scientific perspective, instead of activating the adrenergic system (flight or fight) to “fight the disease,” taking a calm approach of engaging in a conversation with the body is much more therapeutic and healing. This is how I empower my patients during treatment. I am a believer in the power of meditation, visualization, energy healing and love. This approach healed me and continues to help my patients whom I am committed to helping on every level, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
