Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition

Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition CCDC is Colorado's only statewide organization run by majority of and for people with all types of disabilities.

Our members are people with disabilities and our non-disabled allies, working together to to support disability rights. The Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC) was founded in 1990 to implement the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) throughout Colorado. We have grown to become the leading disability rights organization in Colorado. We are the only statewide organization that includes people with all types of disabilities (cross-disability) of all ages and is run by majority by people with disabilities. We have developed a reputation for empowering people with the most significant disabilities to speak for themselves and for others in similar situations. We combine individual and systemic advocacy to be effective agents for change—helping individuals in intolerable situations while using these stories to promote systemic change. We promote self-reliance and full participation of people with all types of disabilities through strategies including organizing, advocacy, education and systems change. We are seen as national model and example of how a disability rights organization can keep true to its grassroots mission while increasing the power of the disability community and gaining expertise on important policy matters.

JOIN US FOR OUR LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY WEBEINAR IN 20 MINUTES!

The start of Colorado’s legislative session is right around the corner. In order to help members prepare for what is likely to be one of the more difficult sessions we’ve had in the last few years, we’re offering three cycles of our legislative advocacy training.

Legislative Advocacy 101 is 90 minutes and covers the nuts and bolts of how the legislature works. Legislative Advocacy 102 is 120 minutes and covers how to advocate at the legislature.

These trainings don’t change much from cycle to cycle, so feel free to mix and match with whatever works for your schedule. You are welcome to take the trainings as many times as you want.

Important read on Colorado’s health-care crisis and what needs to change!

What you should know
• Colorado is facing a major health-care crisis: 2026 insurance premiums are projected to jump about 28% on average, and 40%+ increases are likely in rural and mountain counties.

• As many as 75,000 Coloradans could lose coverage entirely due to new rates.

• Meanwhile, anticipated federal and state Medicaid cuts threaten care for over a million residents.

• With insights contributed by our own Julie Reiskin, this article highlights what’s at stake for disabled Coloradans.

Dive into the full article:

By Jeff Tieman and Julie Reiskin Colorado is careening toward a health care disaster, and unless we change course now, too many of our neighbors will bear the cost — in dollars, in well-being and in lives. Colorado’s health care system isn’t just dysfunctional, it’s teetering on collapse. In...

All of us at the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition want to express our deep gratitude to our members, allies and funders. All of you make the work that we do possible and our community better. We are in very challenging times and our best chance for survival is if we stick together as a community. We know many in our community are afraid, angry and uncertain. We lean on the known power of the disability community, which is resilient, creative and survives against all odds. Together we can get through this. We hope everyone enjoys the holiday if you celebrate, and if you do not that you enjoy the peace and quiet.

Our Co Executive Director Hillary Jorgensen, and the Executive Director of Great Great Education Colorado, Lisa Weil, co-authored this op ed about why we need to be talking about raising revenue along with cutting our state budget. We're proud to be a part of the coalition working on this ballot initiative.

Voters deserve chance to rethink our state spending and change Colorado Constitution to change tax structure.

Help us make transit better in Boulder County, whether you’re a longtime transit rider or thinking about taking the bus for the first time.

Over the next year, Linking Boulder County set a countywide vision for transit—that includes our local and regional buses, on-demand services like Ride Free Lafayette, and future Northwest Rail—and explore what it will take to make that vision a reality. From new transit routes that connect us to each other to buses that come more often to more flexible services for more kinds of trips, we want to think big about what Boulder County needs most.

We invite you to give feedback via our online survey, a virtual open house, or at a pop-up event in the community.

Transit needs survey: Open until November 20
