To all of my clients; past, present and future, I hope you had such a wonderful Mother’s Day. Mine was spent helping a baby earthside and with family. Remember you are always loved and appreciated, no matter the stage of motherhood you are in. ❤️

For all of the mama’s who have experienced loss, remember this:

To every courageous loss mama, with an aching heart and empty arms, I leave you with this: Yes, you are a still a mother, and you always, always will be. The love you two share is forever, just as your motherhood is forever. No one can take that away from you. Not today, not on Mother's Day, not ever.

I admire my sweet friend, her words, her presence. We are so thankful she was with us the day our baby came earthside.

We had transferred from home to the hospital. Within minutes of arrival, staff filled the room. Helping, assessing, preparing. It hadn't been part of the plan, and the intensity of it all was immense at times.

This is birth.

There can be sudden, unexpected, sometimes even scary changes.

And yet also this: holding onto each other even when the world is swirling around you.

These moments are some of our hardest, and yet they are also some of our best. The connection and love and strength saw on this warm summer morning was unmatched.

We need more places and spaces to talk about these moments. These changes. They happen (in big and small ways) and the more we share them...the more we realize we aren't alone.

Seeing this man become a daddy has completely melted my heart. I knew he’d be the best, considering he’s phenomenal with Skyla, Penelope & Jenson, but to see him with his baby girl is breathtaking. Corey McGann, you bring us so much love, joy and happiness. I love you, 14.

Koraline Kae - your mommy, daddy & siblings love you so very much. They’re obsessed with all of your tiny features and you mesmerize them when your eyes open. You’re the best eater, sleeper and cuddler.

I keep trying to finish your birth story so we can share it with the world, but I am stuck. Each time I try to write out when we got to the hospital, I choke up and freeze. I know it’ll take time to process and be able to express. I’m so very thankful we ended up at University, but being able to think it through is troubling to me. In due time. ♥️

Keep growing strong, sweet cheeks. We love you!

Birth story to come later!

Welcome to the world Koraline Kae McGann! Sweet girl entered earthside 8/11/21 @ 9:38 AM weighing 5lbs 9oz and 18 inches long.

Unfortunately our homebirth wishes were not fulfilled because sweet girl stayed breech. After our transfer, things became extremely emergent for baby and I and we ended up in a quick belly birth to bring baby into the world.

It isn’t what we wished for, but baby and I are safe and it was 100% necessary.

She is a champion breastfeeder already for being so early and has been sleeping the day away. We love our sweet girl.

Mama’s: be sure you’re still supporting your core and your growing bump during pregnancy! I promise you’ll feel so much better! Also, everything I’m about to mention is extremely beneficial for postpartum as well. Supporting your core after your abs have been spread apart and muscles weakened is so beneficial to healing.

I’m the first photo I am wearing everything from … literally. I’m wearing the scalloped edge support bloomers, maternity spandex shorts, bralette and the QUEEN tank.

Scalloped support bloomers: the perfect compression for your growing belly as well as a postpartum tummy. They aren’t suffocating tight, but enough to give your belly the best hug and support healing.

Spandex: just so giving for a growing belly and comfy!

Bralette: so comfortable, breathable and come in so many colors! They’re the perfect light-weight addition for pregnancy and act as the best nursing bra!

QUEEN tank: just an all around must have!

You guys!! Yesterday I got to support one of my very best friends as she and her husband welcomed their sweet baby (SURPRISE) girl earthside at home.

It was such a magical birth, filled with love, strong women, support, vernix and shock all around. Shock in a good way, as no one knew what this babes was, and we all were pleasantly surprised girl graced us with her presence.

Birth is truly the most magnificent thing. Blood, sweat and tears bring these miracles into the world and it fills my cup SO full.

This beautiful baby was covered in vernix, a cheesy-like substance that is formed in utero (3rd trimester) to protect baby’s skin. In fact, it facilitates extra-uterine adaptation of skin in the first week of life, if not washed off baby after birth. It’s very hydrating and will soak/rub into baby in the immediate postpartum hours. It is a very common midwifery practice to leave the vernix, and all of the other good bacteria from the birth canal, on baby and wait to bathe them until at least 24 hours earthside.

I was clearly VERY obsessed with my post-birth vernix covered shirt yesterday. Our bodies are amazing!

To my dear sweet friends: I feel honored that you asked me to be there will you! You worked so well as a team and labored so beautifully as you strongly welcomed this sweet girl into the world. I am so damn proud of you! Despite your fears, I knew you could do hard things, and you did. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day. ♥️

Mamas: did you take time to look at and feel your placenta? I personally think they are the most beautiful thing. The organ that sustains our baby’s life, the tree of life in utero. Did you have it encapsulated? Get a print made? ♥️
