Anchor Center for Blind Children

Anchor Center for Blind Children Anchor Center for Blind Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing early intervent

Anchor Center for Blind Children teaches visually impaired infants, young children and their families, providing hope and a nurturing environment where children reach their highest potential. Anchor Center is the only privately funded organization in Colorado (and one of a handful nationwide) that provides early intervention/developmental education services to very young children with visual impairment. With an operating budget over $2 million, we rely heavily on individual donations to ensure our programs continue to meet the needs of Colorado’s children with vision loss.

Yesterday, January 4, was World Braille Day and January is Braille Literacy Month!

Braille empowers access, literacy, and independence for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. At Anchor Center, we’re proud to support early Braille exposure, helping children build the foundation they need to thrive.

Key Features of a Brailler & How it Works

Keys: Typically has six dot keys (one for each dot in a braille cell), a space bar, backspace key, and paper advance lever.

Mechanism: Pressing keys simultaneously punches dots from the front of the paper, creating raised dots on the back that are then read by touch.

Operation: Users press combinations of the six dot keys to form characters, using their fingers (e.g., left index for dot 1, right middle for dot 5).

Paper Feed: Features k***s to advance paper and rollers to prevent crushing the embossed dots.

As the year comes to a close, we’re reflecting with deep gratitude on the community that makes our work possible — YOU.

Because of your generosity, young children who are blind or visually impaired receive life-changing support during the most critical years of development — when early intervention has the greatest impact.

This past year, your generosity helped make possible:
- 200+ young children and families receiving early intervention and support
- 579 in-home visits, bringing expert care directly to families
- 171 comprehensive eye exams for students, alumni, and referred children
- 8 preschool graduates transitioning from Anchor Center to kindergarten

If you are have interest in giving before December 31st, we invite you to explore the many meaningful ways to support Anchor Center:

💙 Make a One-Time Gift
A direct donation provides immediate support for early intervention services, therapies, and family programming. Every gift — at every level — makes a difference.

🔁 Give Monthly
Sustaining gifts provide reliable, year-round support for children and families. Monthly giving is one of the most powerful ways to ensure continuity of care.

📈 Donate Appreciated Stock
Gifts of stock can offer meaningful tax advantages while maximizing your impact. Your generosity goes further for children — and for you.

🎁 Give Through Your IRA
If you’re 70½ or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to make a tax-advantaged gift directly from your IRA.

🏛️ Give Through a Donor-Advised Fund
Recommend a grant from your DAF to support Anchor Center’s life-changing work.

🌱 Leave a Legacy
A planned gift ensures your compassion continues to shape futures for generations to come.

Every gift made by December 31 is tax-deductible and helps ensure financial circumstances never limit a child’s access to care.

Thank you for believing in the potential of every child we serve and for walking alongside families when they need it most. We are profoundly grateful for you — today and always.

This week, we’ve felt an extraordinary wave of generosity, and it’s because of the Word of Thanks campaign and the trust Colorado places in it. anchorcenter.org/wordofthanks 💛

Being selected by Kyle Clark and the 9NEWS team has connected Anchor Center with thousands of people who believe that early support matters. For young children who are blind or visually impaired, access to specialized education, therapy, and family guidance in the earliest years can change what’s possible for a lifetime.

What’s been especially powerful is the ripple effect: first-time gifts, returning supporters, and new monthly donors all stepping forward together. That kind of collective momentum strengthens this work not just today, but well into the future.

If you’re still considering a gift, there’s time to be part of it. Every dollar...and every recurring gift...helps families feel supported and children build the skills they need to thrive.

We’re deeply thankful to Kyle Clark, the 9NEWS community, and everyone who has shown up with such heart this week.

Final Hours to Share a Word of Thanks 👉 anchorcenter.org/wordofthanks

As this campaign…and the 2025 year…comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the extraordinary community that stands behind Anchor Center and the families we serve. Your generosity sends a powerful message to children who are blind or visually impaired, and to their families: you are supported, and your future matters.

Every gift made through this campaign helps provide specialized instruction and developmental support during the most critical early years—connecting children to vision services and eye exams, occupational and physical therapy, speech therapy, and individualized early learning experiences that support growth across every area of development. Just as importantly, it gives families trusted guidance and partnership as they navigate their child’s early years.

If you’ve been considering a year-end gift, now is the moment. A simple word of thanks today becomes meaningful, life-shaping support for young children and their families across Colorado.

Final chance to give:
👉 anchorcenter.org/wordofthanks

From all of us at Anchor Center, thank you—for your generosity, your belief in early intervention, and for being part of a community that shows up for children when it matters most.

Every “thank you” carries weight. ❤️

Right now, through the Word of Thanks campaign supported by Kyle Clark and Next with Kyle Clark, your generosity is showing families of children who are blind or visually impaired that they are not walking this journey alone. 👉 anchorcenter.org/wordofthanks

At Anchor Center, your support helps families access early intervention, expert guidance, and a community that believes in their child’s potential from the very beginning. A gift of any size becomes part of a much larger message: you are seen, you are supported, and your child belongs.

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to close out the year with impact, this is it.

We were deeply honored to welcome Santa and receive beautiful, handmade wooden toys for our students — part of an extraordinary Colorado effort that brought 3,000 handcrafted toys to children across hospitals, specialty schools, and nonprofits this holiday season.

As featured on FOX31 Denver, volunteer woodworkers spent months transforming pieces of wood into toys made with care, intention, and heart. For our young children who are blind or visually impaired, these wooden toys are especially meaningful — inviting tactile exploration, imaginative play, and lasting joy.

We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers, artists, and Santas who made sure children of all abilities were included in this magic! ❤️

All year long, garages and wood workshops around Colorado have been buzzing with the sounds of bandsaws.
