CCMU is proud to announce the launch of our first-ever student clinic shift at the Veteran’s Administration Jewel Clinic in Aurora, Colorado. This exciting milestone marks a significant step in expanding clinical training opportunities for our students while serving those who have served our country. Focusing primarily on pain, four senior CCMU students provide acupuncture relief to veterans under the guidance of a CCMU clinical faculty member. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the VA for this partnership and to our dedicated faculty and students for making this vision a reality.

Chinese moxibustion (moxa) is a traditional healing therapy involving the burning of moxa (mugwort) near specific acupuncture points on the body. The practice provides several benefits, including:

1. Improved Circulation: Moxibustion helps to enhance blood flow, promoting better circulation and helping to alleviate conditions like coldness or stagnation in the body.
2. Pain Relief: It is commonly used to treat musculoskeletal pain, including conditions like arthritis, back pain, and joint stiffness by stimulating the flow of qi (energy) and blood.
3. Boosting Immunity: The warmth generated by moxibustion strengthens the immune system, making the body more resilient to illness and disease.
4. Digestive Health: Moxibustion can aid in treating digestive issues, including bloating, constipation, and indigestion, by stimulating the digestive system.
5. Regulation of Menstrual Cycle: It is used in traditional Chinese medicine to address menstrual disorders, such as irregular cycles, cramps, or excessive bleeding, by promoting balance in the body.
6. Stress Reduction: Moxibustion can help in calming the nervous system, leading to reduced stress, anxiety, and relaxation.
7. Cold and Flu Relief: It is often used to help the body expel pathogens, like those causing colds or flu, by warming the body and restoring balance to the immune system.
8. Detoxification: Moxibustion is thought to help in detoxifying the body by promoting the release of toxins through improved circulation and metabolic processes.
9. Balancing Yin and Yang: In traditional Chinese medicine, moxibustion is used to balance the body’s energy systems, correcting imbalances between the yin and yang energy within the body.
10. Improved Energy Levels: Regular moxibustion treatments revitalize the body’s energy (qi), leading to improved vitality and a reduction in fatigue.

While moxibustion has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicine, it is important to consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before undergoing treatment, especially if you have certain medical conditions.

Welcome to the 🐍✨Year of the Snake🐍✨

A time for wisdom, renewal, and transformation. Just as the snake symbolizes shedding old layers, it’s the perfect opportunity to let go of what no longer serves you—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Lunar New Year is a reminder to align with the energy of the season. Winter transitions to spring, a time to focus on nourishing your body, strengthening your immune system, and restoring balance. Support your health with warming teas, seasonal foods, and practices like acupuncture to harmonize your qi (energy).

May this year bring you clarity, vitality, and success in all areas of life. Let’s embrace fresh starts, new opportunities, and growth together.

From everyone at CCMU, 🌙🎉 Happy Lunar New Year 2025! 🎉🌙
