During the 2026 Colorado legislative session, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless advocacy team has made a strong impact! With your support, here's what their efforts looked like by the numbers:
- 3/3 priority bills passed
- 29 testimonies delivered by CCH staff
- 75 attendees showed up to support at Lobby Day
- 100 firecracker chocolate bars consumed (highly recommended by the advocacy team)
- 2 state action alerts sent to mobilize advocates

While the official tally of the number of students experiencing homelessness across the United States is around 1.5 million, homelessness among school-aged children in the U.S. remains vastly underrecognized.

Happy Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month! AAPI Heritage Month is an annual celebration held in May that recognizes the historical, and continued, cultural contributions of people of Asian and Pacific Islander descent to the United States.

The effort to officially recognize Asian American and Pacific Islander contributions to the United States began in the late 1970s, and it took over 10 years to make it a permanent month-long celebration. We encourage you to celebrate and learn more about the history and importance of AAPI heritage this month.

More affordable housing is on the way!

CCH will begin construction on Park Avenue Apartments, a new 60-unit permanent supportive housing (PSH) and transit-oriented development at 3721 North Globeville Road after closing financing late last week. Conveniently located near downtown Denver, public transit, and grocery stores, Park Avenue Apartments will serve those exiting homelessness and be available to households up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Some of the exciting features, amenities, and services that will be offered at Park Avenue Apartments include: private 1 bd/1bath apartments, a computer lab, library, life skills training, on-site mental health services, and more! The property will begin lease ups in 2027.

Today, Metro Denver Homeless Initiative on behalf of Colorado's four Continuums of Care (CoC), released the 2025 Colorado State of Homelessness Report, providing a statewide look at homelessness, housing stability, and system performance.

Developed collaboratively by partners across the state, including the Coalition, this year’s report expands beyond a singular focus to include the broader range of households served across the Colorado network—encompassing street outreach, emergency shelter, prevention, and housing programs.

The data reveals a powerful overarching message: collaborative efforts are working, and we are seeing significant, measurable improvement in Colorado’s housing stability.

However, while our system expanded its reach to serve over 84,000 individuals last year (and successfully stabilized thousands of households), the largest systemic barrier remains in the availability of and funding of housing options.
