Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the first built in and considered the oldest cathedral in the world, symbolizes the beginning of as a religion. Armenia became the first nation to adopt Christianity as its official religion in 301 A.D. With the Christianization of Armenia, all of the many temples and statues of Goddess Anahit, the of , and , were destroyed. However, it is said that the cathedral was built above one such of Goddess Anahit and that the temple still exists today, . Why do you think this is? Was it simply to obliterate and bring forth Christianity? Or was it to capitalize on the and of Anahit? Perhaps both?
