We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Andrea Gibson. Andrea's words were never far from our minds and hearts and were often the bridge to the emotion we (and many of our patients) were feeling. What a gift it is to have Andrea's words still with us to help provide some comfort in their absence. In their words, they will live forever.

Loved talking with Brittany Wong of HuffPost for this important piece on patient consent and why getting weighed at the doctor's office isn't as necessary as some like to think it is. We are grateful to do a lot of teaching to help other medical professionals understand the importance of these pillars of our care and are grateful for resources like More Love's "Don't Weigh Me" cards (almost 90k cards shipped to date! 👏)

Every couple of years we get together and practice our CPR skills with a lot of jokes about which songs provide the optimal compressions beat (Pink Pony Club might have unseated Stayin' Alive), work on our best announcement that 911 has been contacted and help is on the way, and realize that test anxiety never ends for some of us. 😅
In all seriousness, we take our certification seriously and are ready to provide support to anyone who needs it! 💪

It's not uncommon for our patients to tell us that they feel like they are only seen as someone with an eating disorder or as someone with complex needs. While an eating disorder and the diagnoses that often travel with it can sometimes crowd the other parts of who we are, you are a whole person who is worthy of being honored and cared for.

As we approach 60(!) recorded podcasts in the past almost nine years, it's truly difficult to pick favorites as each conversation is special and meaningful in unique ways. With this being said, we also have to highlight the latest podcast on our website, Once Shattered: Picking up the Pieces: Complex Medical Issues, as especially powerful for us. In this conversation, Dr. Gaudiani speaks with Jack and Linda Mazur and Ellen Bennett. Some shared Italian roots steered the conversation to the phrase "forte e gentile" which translates to "strong and kind". We believe that this expression perfectly encapsulates the energy of this conversation and the care we believe should be provided to individuals; as Linda describes, it's the balance of kindness and compassion with honesty. We'll be sharing more of our favorite moments from the conversation here, but we hope you'll spend an hour with these wonderful hosts and Dr. G. to hear the conversation in its entirety.
