My Name is Dr. Linda Baker and I am very happy to announce the opening of Unstuck Therapy, a psychotherapy and assessment service in the Capital Hill area of Denver. I am available and ready to provide service to your referrals, clients, friends, & family. Here are the types of concerns I specialize in:
• Trauma, crisis, and loss
• Depression, anxiety, and mood disorders
• Relational and interp
ersonal problems; personality disorders
• Legal and conduct difficulties, including work with corrections/offender populations
I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and I include training in mindfulness-based strategies. All therapy services are available to adults, couples, & adolescents. I am a registered psychotherapist and Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) trained at the University of Denver, Graduate School of Professional Psychology. I earned my Master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology and have used my education to work specifically with traumatized individuals who have been involved with violence, tragedy, loss, and neglect. I have worked primarily in correctional facilities, detention centers, and community mental health settings and I have been published in the areas of disaster response, secondary traumatic stress, and self-advocacy. Therapeutic Philosophy: Regardless of our highest hopes and best efforts we can find ourselves stuck in making the same mistakes, picking the same fights, or avoiding the same situations. I have learned, both professionally and personally, that problematic patterns of behavior are often incredibly frustrating and overwhelming for everyone involved. However, I have also learned that these patterns are little more than a series of habits that can be broken through facilitated direction, practice, and guidance. I believe that life’s difficulties, disappointments, and regrets are natural and inescapable facets of our existence. I also believe in the unyielding resilience of the human spirit and I know that each of us has the ability to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. You may refer clients or they can self-refer. I do not accept insurance, although I can provide receipt for service, which may be submitted to some insurers for possible reimbursement. My clients are self-pay and I accept credit cards, checks, and cash.
