With the holidays just around the corner, it’s a good time to check in on the vaccines that can help keep you and your family healthy.

Vaccines for flu, COVID-19 and RSV offer important protection, especially for older adults, young children, pregnant people and anyone with chronic health conditions. But recommendations can vary based on your age, health status and risk.

To make sure your at-risk loved ones stay safe and healthy this holiday season, take a moment to learn which vaccines are recommended for you and when to get them. A quick conversation with a trusted health care provider or a visit to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment vaccine guidance webpage can help you make a plan that protects the people you care about most.

A healthier holiday season starts with all of us.

We’re grateful to work with so many new parents in the comfort of their own homes through our Family Connects program.

The service is simple: A registered nurse visits your home around three weeks after birth to check on parent, baby and the whole family. There is no additional cost to you, and anyone with a newborn can participate after giving birth at Denver Health.

In the U.S., polio once changed lives in an instant. Today, thanks to vaccines, many have never seen its devastating effects. That’s a victory worth celebrating and sustaining, even while we still work to eradicate polio globally.

At PHIDH, we’re proud to help keep polio in the past by making routine immunizations accessible for every family in our community. Public health works when we all benefit from progress and help protect it together.

As we recognize , we honor the generations who lived through polio outbreaks and the science and partnership that brought us to where we are today.

🧡 Let’s continue the momentum. Healthier communities start with prevention.

We know scientific claims that make headlines can lead to uncertainty. That’s why Bob Belknap, MD, chair of PHIDH, spoke with 9NEWS (KUSA) and CBS Colorado to reaffirm that Tylenol (acetaminophen) remains safe for pregnant people when used appropriately and cautioned against drawing unproven links between its use and autism.

Dr. Belknap also emphasized something every parent, patient and community member deserves: a health care provider you trust—someone you can turn to with questions any time you’re uncertain about your health.

As federal vaccine advisory structures shift, Bob Belknap, MD, chair of PHIDH, spoke with Colorado Public Radio to emphasize the importance of evidence, transparency and continuity in vaccine guidance.

Dr. Belknap applauded Colorado’s steps to protect vaccine access and flexibility—pointing especially to the state’s standing orders and policy adjustments that help ensure Coloradans can still get recommended vaccines.

The evidence is clear that vaccines help build healthier communities, and PHIDH will continue working in partnership with the communities we support to ensure vaccine access, clarity and trust.

Last week, a key federal vaccine panel made some significant changes and recommendations that were once closely followed by states like Colorado.
