Colorado Academy of PAs The Colorado Academy of PAs represents PAs in the state, promotes PAs role in patient centered care We hope this web site will be an aid to doing just that.

CAPA is a constituent chapter of the American Academy of Physician Assistants The Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants (CAPA) was established in 1976 to:

- Promote the PA profession to Colorado's lay and medical community.
- Offer community health education projects.
- Offer continuing medical education for PAs.
- Help ensure proper regulation and utilization of PAs in Colorado. The Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants is the voice of Colorado PAs. We are interested in your needs and work hard to supply you with the resources you need to stay informed.

CAPA will recognize outstanding PAs during the awards ceremony at the 50th Anniversary GALA on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Consider nominating a PA, PA student, employer or legislator you know (or self-nominate) for one of the CAPA awards.

CAPA stands with AAPA and PAEA in opposing student loan caps related to the passage of H.R. 1 in July. The U.S. Department of Education’s negotiation with the federal government led to a definition of “professional program" that would exclude physician associates from eligibility for higher student loan limits.

The cost of PA education for most students exceeds these imposed limits and will essentially limit the number of qualified students applying to PA programs or force students into high interest private loans. This would come at a time of rapid growth of the PA profession in meeting the healthcare demands of the future and has the potential to limit access to care for all Americans. We also call on the Department of Education to fix this proposal as it advances through the regulatory process.
