The energy you’re exposed to affects you more than you might think.
Sometimes, it’s hard to escape toxic behavior, especially if it’s coming from a family member, a co-worker, or someone you don’t have much choice in being around on a regular basis.
So what can you do?
Set healthy, firm boundaries. If they bring up topics that make you uncomfortable, redirect the conversation. If they invade your personal space, calmly establish physical boundaries.
If they try to guilt-trip you over standing up for yourself, acknowledge their feelings, but remain firm with your boundaries.
Protecting your peace is more important than protecting someone’s feelings - especially if they’re the ones causing your stress.
