Last Wednesday was international day of persons with disabilities.
Disabilities can create separation from your community or personal identity. Sometimes it may feel like you're taking on your disability alone. About 1 in 4, or 61 million, adults reported having a disability in 2022.
No person should have to take on their disability alone. You are strong. Do not hide your strength. Allow us to show it off and help you prosper.

As we move into the holiday season, it is important to remember that this time of year can be a real strain on couples. There are more events to attend, more responsibilities to handle, and often more pressure to make everything feel perfect. With all of that going on, it is easy for stress to build and communication to slip. If you and your partner are feeling stretched thin, you are not alone. The busier the season becomes, the more important it is to communicate and highlight your values. Even small gestures can make a big difference!

The holidays can still be meaningful and enjoyable when couples support each other. A little patience and understanding can help you move through the season as a team. If you are having trouble remembering that, please allow us to be your first line of defense.

What is Stigma?
Stigma is the weight of negative judgments that can make you question how others see you and how you may see yourself. When stigma surrounds any kind of personal challenge, it can make you hesitate to reach out for support, worried you might be misunderstood or treated differently. That hesitation can make it harder to get the care you deserve. This is especially true for substance abuse and mental health challenges.
If you are struggling with either Mental health or Substance abuse please,

"Never be a prisoner of your past. It was just a lesson, not a life sentence." - Unknown.

Cognitive therapy teaches us that it is your perception of things that creates your internal conflicts. Sometimes it is hard to change the way you think or see things in a different light. Even when you want to. Let us help give you A New Outlook.

Is stress bad?
You may think that stress is horrible! Or stress is the byproduct of good things. Not necessarily bad, but certainly not good.
I'm here to tell you that stress, like all things, in moderation is actually great for your longevity.
I am not saying you should be stressed without a break or stressed to a point where you are overexerting yourself.
Stress, for both us and our animals, can be beneficial.
Stress allows us to practice and develop coping skills. Those skills will allow us to avoid stress and handle even more stressful things.
To fully utilize your stress, try practicing some coping styles!

Coping styles have a wide variety, but there are a few major categories.

Problem-focused: Focusing on the problem to remove the stressor.
Emotion-focused: Feeling the emotions and allowing them to pass.
Meaning-focused: Determining why you feel a certain way or why the stressor occurred.
Support-seeking: Faith, substances, connections, finding something that supports your stress.

If you need help with your stress or want to learn more about coping skills,

“Everything you think you know about addiction is wrong”—Johann Hari was the director of a 3-year-long field study that used data from over the last 30 years. What was he studying?
Hari determined a significant correlation between bonds, the lack of bonds, and addiction.
“The opposite of addition is not sobriety. The opposite of addition is connection.”

Hari found that a deeper connection with society can decrease a country's drug use by 50%.
In individuals, he found that there is an approximate 95% recovery rate from addiction.

I won't spoil the whole video, but if you have 15 minutes, do check out the TED Talk below!
