This is something I haven’t shared here yet…
At the end of last year, during a routine skin check, a new freckle on my stomach (a spot that never sees the sun) was biopsied. I almost didn’t even mention it—it didn’t concern me very much when I noticed it and I hadn’t added it to my list of spots to check. Which is wild, because it ended up being the one.
What caught my dermatologist’s attention wasn’t the freckle itself, but a very subtle pale pink overlay I could see with my naked eye once she pointed it out to me.
Yesterday, I got my results: my margins were clear and the cancer was completely removed. 🙏✨
I’ll now have checkups every three months for the next two years, and I’m beyond grateful.
I lost one of my very best friends, Sean, to melanoma at 28, which is why I’m so consistent with my wellness checks. My surgeon also shared that many melanomas show up where the sun doesn’t shine. (Just like Sean’s)even when you’re doing everything “right.”
This is your reminder: preventative care matters. Please don’t skip your skin checks. 🤍
