Earlier this week, I stood at the summit of Haleakalā and watched the sun rise above the clouds. It was freezing. It was sacred. And it made me think of you, new social workers trying to hold your values, your integrity, and your hope inside systems that don’t always make space for any of it.

So I wrote something for you.

Written with awe, from 10,000 feet up.

Every time we run this training, someone says it:
“I learn more than I could have imagined.”

That’s not just about content.
It’s about a space where supervision becomes deeper, more ethical, and more relational - together.

Our approach invites reflection, accountability, and real connection. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Registration is open for Fall 2025. Link in bio to join us or here: https://www.coloradosocialworkers.com/supervision-training

If you’re a new social worker in Colorado and these feel... a little too real?

You’re not wrong.

We expect new grads to make ethical, clinical, sometimes life-altering decisions with zero supervision, no reflective space, and barely a roadmap. That’s not just unfair. It’s unsustainable.

You don’t have to white-knuckle your way through licensure.
Join a group where you’re supported, guided, and actually allowed to grow.

Clinical supervision groups now enrolling!

1st & 3rd Tuesdays | 11am or 4pm MT | $360 for 8 sessions

Summer bonus: Free individual session when you start in July or August

What if supervision wasn’t just about oversight, but about becoming?

Reflective supervision isn’t a luxury. It’s one of the few protected spaces in our field where slowing down becomes an act of care, not avoidance.

When we pause to ask thoughtful questions - about ethics, identity, purpose, and systems - we create space for growth on both sides of the relationship.

This quote from Falender and Shafranske reminds us what supervision can be: collaborative, intentional, and rooted in mutual learning.

🌿 Whether you’re offering supervision or receiving it, may your sessions be filled with reflection, honesty, and connection.

A quick note, especially for new visitors:
This space is meant for shared reflection, professional education, and community care.

It is not therapy.
It is not clinical supervision.
It is not medical or legal advice.
It is not individualized consultation.

What I offer here is grounded in ethics, experience, and collective growth, but it can’t replace personalized support.

Thanks for being here with respect, integrity, and thoughtfulness. You’re always welcome.

I hold all of my own insurance contracts, and I'm proud of that. And I recognize that it impacts my reimbursement rate, as the author says.

A must read for private practitioners!

Yes, it’s late in Mental Health Awareness Month, but it’s never too late to care for your mind, check on your people, or take one small step toward change.

If you’ve been meaning to learn more, speak up, or get support, here’s your nudge: mhanational.org

Let’s keep the conversation going - even if we’re fashionably late to the post.

Welcome to the Field, New Social Workers! 🎓

To every BSW, MSW, and DSW graduate crossing the stage—welcome. You are stepping into a field that is complex, demanding, and at times, exhausting. But it is also powerful, necessary, and deeply meaningful.

You will hold space for people in their hardest moments.
You will fight for justice in systems that resist change.
You will navigate challenges no one prepared you for.

And through it all, you will grow, you will make an impact, and you will find your place in this work.

Social work is not just a job—it’s a commitment to people, to community, and to change. And we need you here.

As you step into this next chapter, know that you don’t have to do it alone. Find mentors, ask for help and support, and build a career that sustains you.

Drop a comment if you’re a new grad—or tag a new social worker to celebrate them!
