Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our larger HCA Healthcare network – and some arrive earlier than expected. According to March of Dimes, about 1 in 10 babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. This means they enter the world before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

We headed to HCA HealthONE Rose, but the medical team didn’t find a definitive reason for the baby’s distress. My OB/GYN also had a gut feeling about the situation and soon, the team decided I would deliver the baby via C-section.

Last night, HCA HealthONE Rose co-hosted a powerful event alongside Lotus Network, bringing clarity, compassion, and community to a topic often overlooked — menopause.

Between a screening of "The M Factor" and a panel discussion of women's health experts, attendees explored the physical effects of menopause — from hot flashes and sleep disturbances to bone density loss and cardiovascular changes. These symptoms aren’t just uncomfortable; they’re signals from the body that deserve attention and care.

Among the panelists, HCA HealthONE Rose's own Dr. Sarah Rabice (urogynecologist) and Dr. Stephanie Owens (OBGYN) emphasized the importance of speaking up, advocating for your health, and knowing that you’re not alone. Every woman’s experience is unique, and so are the treatment options — ranging from lifestyle adjustments and hormone therapy to integrative approaches that support both physical and emotional well-being.

Leatha, 75, a hardworking former cattle rancher from Goodland, Kan., was sidelined by unbearable hip pain, "I could hardly walk at times.”
