Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at HCA HealthONE Rose was honored recently in the most meaningful way: with the Hometown Heroes Award, presented by a local Girl Scout troop! The young scouts also presented our NICU team with wonderful handmade posters and lots of cookies to share!

During their visit, the scouts met with our nurse leaders and learned firsthand what it takes to care for our tiniest Rose Baby patients. They explored NICU technology like the Giraffe incubator, saw tiny preemie diapers, blood pressure cuffs, and hats. They came prepared with lots of questions and lots of curiosity. Next, the girls were able to get up close and personal with a NICU baby through an observation window. The baby, nicknamed Bear, had been with us for 37 days and was preparing to discharge the following day, and his parents were gracious enough to let the eager girls dote over him.

We also had the chance to meet one of our own Rose Babies: a Girl Scout shared that she was a Rose Baby and spent time in our NICU 10 years ago! Her story is living proof of the lasting impact of compassionate, expert neonatal care, and we were so fortunate to meet her and her mother!

Thank you, Girl Scout Troop 68350, for the incredible honor and for taking time to visit us! Girl Scouts Girl Scouts of Colorado

"She was the size of a Snickers bar." This is how Shayla's father described her at birth in 1992. For Shayla Fields, a challenging health journey brought fear and uncertainty but also extraordinary support — from her parents and from the caregivers at HCA HealthONE Rose's NICU.

At less than 2 pounds, baby Shayla found a care team that showed up with skill, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her well‑being. Every step of the way, her caregivers focused not just on treatment, but on listening, reassurance, and truly understanding what mattered most to her. Along with her dedicated parents, Christy and Todd, Shayla found strength in a moment when she needed it most.

Today, her story is one of resilience, healing, and hope — a powerful reminder of what’s possible when expert care is delivered with heart. 📺 Watch Shayla’s full story: https://bit.ly/4cFQpZF

At HCA HealthONE Rose, stories like Shayla’s reflect our promise to care for the whole person, every time. “This is why I became a nurse - to be here, in moments like this.”

Here is to the moments that remind us that care goes far beyond medicine: it’s human, it’s powerful, and it’s deeply personal. This video captures just a glimpse of the moments our colleagues experienced while on a medical mission in Honduras.

🌏✈💊 That same spirit of service continues. We're partnering with Project C.U.R.E. once again to send colleagues on a medical mission trip to San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala! At HCA HealthONE, excellence isn’t limited to our hospitals — it’s reflected in our willingness to serve wherever the need is greatest. These missions embody who we are: a community of caregivers committed to making a difference, together. In 2024 alone, HCA Healthcare colleagues volunteered 240,000 hours and contributed $18 million to community organizations — matched by HCA Healthcare.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we believe that collaboration is the key to meaningful change. Our colleagues work together to deliver care that improves lives and inspires progress — for our patients, families and each other. With approximately 320,000 colleagues at HCA Healthcare, we leverage our scale to share best practices and innovate across the continuum of care. At HCA HealthONE Rose, this approach is evident in our recent infection prevention milestones:

✔ 3 years without MRSA (3/30)
✔ 3 years without CAUTI (catheter-associated urinary tract infection (3/31)
‌✔ 1 year without a C-diff infection (3/26)
✔ 2 years without CLABSI (central line-associated bloodstream infection (5/19)

This commitment to quality excellence has also led to recognition as one of 6 hospitals in Colorado with the lowest CAUTI rates: https://bit.ly/4vE11Ru

These milestones reflect more than numbers — they represent lives protected, complications prevented and a relentless focus on doing what’s right for every patient, every time. We are proud of our colleagues whose dedication, vigilance and teamwork make safer care possible every day.
