A new summer internship at Denver Community Addiction Rehabilitation and Evaluation Services (CARES) is creating hands-on learning opportunities for the next generation of substance use care professionals.

Made possible by a grant from the NDASA Foundation through the Denver Health Foundation, this internship will give a student real-world exposure to substance use treatment, testing best practices and the systems that support recovery care.

For nearly five decades, Denver CARES has served as a critical entry point to treatment and recovery in our community. This investment helps strengthen that work while supporting the future of the field. ๐Ÿ‘

We love ๐Ÿ’™ our volunteers!

Denver Healthโ€™s Hearts in Action team is a powerful part of how we connect with the community. Now more than 530 strong and growing, our team logged more than 1,100 volunteer shifts last year, representing Denver Health at community events, parades and public health initiatives across the city.

Thank you to our volunteers, volunteer leaders, coordinators and events team for all you do to make this work possible.

Survivors of sexual assault are too often met with doubt instead of support. According to experts, many are still not believed by society, even though fewer than 5% of sexual assault reports are false.

This morning, Denver Health joined the Denver Police Department, Denver District Attorney's Office and community partners for Start by Believing Day, an initiative focused on supporting survivors of sexual assault with compassion, dignity and belief. Remarks were shared by Denver District Attorney John Walsh, Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas and Denver Healthโ€™s Michelle Metz, RN, forensic nurse program manager. Attendees also heard directly from survivors and viewed powerful artwork created by them and other advocates.

During , we stand with survivors and reaffirm the importance of listening, believing and responding with care. ๐Ÿ’™
