Do you what NEAT is?? (No, it's not your organized linen closet, lol but that would be sooooo awesome! )
NEAT = Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis
It’s the energy (calories) you burn from everything you do outside of formal workouts.
What counts as NEAT?♥️💪🏽🎉
This is all your daily movement that isn’t intentional exercise:
• Walking around your house/office
• Cleaning, cooking, errands
• Taking the stairs (instead of the elevator, Chris Hershey 😬)
• Standing instead of sitting
• Fidgeting, pacing, moving while talking
• Playing with kids (aka teaching Kindergarten 🤣)
It’s essentially your baseline movement behavior.
Why NEAT matters (a lot) ⭐️⭐️⭐️
For most people—especially in fat loss phases—NEAT can burn:
• 300 to 800+ calories per day
That’s often more than your workout.
Key point here:
Two people can eat the same and train the same…
→ but the one with higher NEAT loses fat faster.
READ THAT AGAIN.
LOSES FAT FASTER.
NEAT vs Exercise:

planned (lifting, classes, cardio)
💛NEAT: unplanned, lifestyle movement
When you diet, your body often Lowers NEAT subconsciously (you move less, sit more)
This is a major reason fat loss stalls.
Increasing NEAT is one of the least stressful, highest Return on Investment (ROI) tools you have.
Target:
8,000–10,000 steps/day minimum
• Ideal: 10,000–12,000
Practical ways to increase NEAT:
Think frequency, not intensity:
⭐️Walk 10 minutes after each meal
⭐️Park farther away
⭐️Take calls while walking
⭐️Set a timer: stand or move every 45–60 min
⭐️Add a short evening walk (15–20 min)
Why it helps your numbers on the scale:
Increasing NEAT
♥️Improve insulin sensitivity → better muscle storage ability
♥️Help reduce body fat without cutting more calories
♥️Improves circulation + lymphatic flow → helps body water distribution
♥️Lower stress/cortisol compared to excessive cardio
Bottom line: 💛💪🏽
NEAT is your metabolic “background burn.”
If you control it consistently, fat loss becomes easier, not harder.
