As January comes to a close, so does Glaucoma Awareness Month, but the need for vigilance never ends. Glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of preventable vision loss, and early detection is still our strongest defense. In this insightful conversation, April Jasper, OD, and Nathan Radcliffe, MD, discuss the clinical value of Corneal Hysteresis as measured by the Ocular Response Analyzer®, a technology that continues to reshape how we understand and manage glaucoma.
Dr. Radcliffe summarized it best that Corneal Hysteresis gives us a deeper understanding of intraocular pressure, far beyond Goldmann applanation tonometry. That it helps clinicians better contextualize pressure, avoid overtreatment, and quickly identify patients at real risk. He goes on that Corneal Hysteresis is the strongest risk factor we have for glaucoma progression, and it ultimately improves both clinical decision‑making and quality of care.
As we wrap up the month, it’s clear that advancing glaucoma care means combining consistent screening, patient education, and cutting‑edge diagnostics like Corneal Hysteresis. Together, these tools empower us to detect disease earlier, treat more precisely, and protect more vision.
