✨ BNI Spotlight: Greater New Haven ✨

Every Thursday, we attend our BNI lunch meeting at the Valley Diner, where we build meaningful relationships with local professionals we know, like, and trust—and support one another in growing our businesses.

we’re spotlighting two great presentations from a few weeks ago:

💻 Chris Cotto of Blue Ridge Systems shared an informative and timely 5-minute presentation on website and email safety—helping protect businesses from hackers and online threats.

⚖️ We also heard a deeper presentation from Dan Seiden of Unite Law. Dan gave us a look into both his professional work and personal life—sharing his role as a dad coach, his love for skiing, and his strong connection to Milford, where he was born and raised.

Professionally, Dan supports individuals and families navigating real estate—whether it’s seniors looking to sell or first-time homebuyers getting started. If you’re looking to understand what needs to be in place, Dan is a great resource.

✨ It’s that time of year again! ✨

On May 3, 2026, from morning through the afternoon, we’re coming together as a community to support an incredibly meaningful cause 💜

For our team at In-Home Angels, this is more than just an event—it’s something truly close to our hearts. We’re honored to be part of the Beverly Levy Walk-A-Thon, raising awareness and critical funding for gynecologic cancer research.

We’re so close to this year’s goal—over $300,000 raised toward $350,000! 🙌 Every step, every share, and every donation helps us get closer.

Our team is working to raise $500+ to support research, resources, and tools that make a real difference in prevention and care.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 This is a family-friendly event where “heroes” of all ages come together—walking side by side to support those impacted by cancer. Bring your kids, your friends, your loved ones—everyone is welcome!

We would love for you to join our team or consider making a donation to help us finish strong 💜

Together, we can bring hope, strength, and real change.

This is an incredible advancement in behavioral health care. 💙

At In-Home Angels, we see firsthand how important timely, compassionate support is—especially during moments of crisis. The ability for programs like the EmPATH Unit to stabilize patients quickly while reducing the need for hospitalization is truly impactful, not just for individuals, but for families as well.

Creating a more supportive, less traumatic experience during psychiatric emergencies is a huge step forward, and we’re grateful to see innovation like this happening right here in our community.

The Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing (EmPATH) Unit at Griffin Hospital is the first in Connecticut and one of more than 30 across the country. Conceived by Dr. Scott Zeller in Alameda County, California in the early 2010s, the first EmPATH opened in Kentucky in July 2024. These pioneering units have reported significant success, routinely stabilizing 75% of patients experiencing psychiatric emergencies in less than 24 hours, reducing the need for hospitalization, and decreased crisis readmissions by 25%, all while eliminating many of the traumatic aspects of traditional emergency psychiatric care.

2,041,910 adolescents and young adults were diagnosed with cancer in 2025.

Not someday. Not later in life.
Right now—in the middle of building careers, relationships, and independence.

AYA cancer isn’t talked about enough, and too often, symptoms are overlooked or dismissed. By the time answers come, everything has already changed.

Behind every number is a life interrupted—
a plan paused—
a young person navigating something they never expected.

This is why awareness matters.
This is why early detection matters.
This is why support matters.

💛 Check in on someone
💛 Start the conversation
💛 Be part of the support system

Because no young adult should have to face cancer alone.

Reflection Friday 🤝

The “Conversation with the Valley Legislative Delegation” at the Brownson Country Club in Shelton, hosted by the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, was a truly impactful way to start last Friday morning.

Local business owners, employees, and community members came together for open, honest conversations about what’s really happening across the Valley and within our communities. It created a space where real concerns could be voiced, heard, and acknowledged.

A sincere thank you to our legislative delegation— Senator Jason Perillo, state Representative Arnold Jensen, State Representative Kara Rochelle, and State Representative Mary Welander—for being present, listening, and engaging in meaningful dialogue around the issues that matter most.

We also appreciate AT&T for sponsoring this important event and helping bring the community together.

What stood out most was the shared commitment to progress—working collaboratively to address concerns and explore solutions at both the local and state level.

It was a powerful reminder that change starts with conversation—and that when people come together with purpose, progress is possible.

HCAOA Connecticut members came to the state capitol recently to advocate and show support for the home care industry.

Our Connecticut Chapter co-sponsored Care at Home Day at the Capitol with Connecticut Association for Healthcare at Home March 18 at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

The annual event featured remarks from Chapter leaders and lawmakers, discussion of priority policies and legislation, networking with peers and member meetings with state legislators.

Thanks to all who participated!

🌟 MORE EXCITING NEWS!🌟

In-Home Angels is now a provider (Department of Developmental Services), expanding our ability to support individuals with developmental disabilities right here in our community.

This means we are now an approved Connecticut Department of Developmental Services provider. Through the State of Connecticut we are able to deliver services to individuals who qualify for DDS support. Through this program, we work alongside individuals and their families to provide personalized, non-medical care that promotes independence, safety, and overall quality of life—all within the comfort of their own home and community.

As a DDS provider, we are part of a broader network of services designed to help individuals reach their goals, build life skills, and stay actively engaged in their communities, while also offering support and peace of mind to families and caregivers.

Why we chose this path:
In-Home Angels was founded with a heartfelt commitment to supporting individuals through every stage of life. Inspired by our founder JoBeth’s journey as a cancer survivor, our mission has always been rooted in providing safe, compassionate, high-quality care that honors each person’s dignity and individuality.

We’ve seen firsthand the growing need for dependable, relationship-driven care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Expanding into DDS services allows us to make an even greater impact—supporting not just individuals, but entire families navigating this journey. We thoughtfully match each client with skilled, experienced caregivers to build meaningful, trusting relationships that truly make a difference.

We’re honored to continue growing alongside our community and look forward to supporting even more individuals in meaningful, life-enhancing ways.
