But cooperation builds real learning.

One of the biggest shifts happening in ABA right now is moving away from compliance-first teaching and toward practices that prioritize assent, autonomy, and meaningful engagement.

When learners feel safe, respected, and involved in the process, they’re much more likely to participate, persist, and make meaningful progress.

1️⃣ Pair before teaching – prioritize the relationship before placing demands.
2️⃣ Prime expectations – help learners know what’s coming so they can be successful.
3️⃣ Make reinforcement meaningful – motivation matters.
