At Planetree, we love celebrating the incredible people who make person-centered care a reality! That’s why we’re launching the Employee Spotlight series.
Today, we’re celebrating Bassel El Sayegh, Regional Director for EMEA, who joined the team last March.
💡 What He Does: As the Regional Director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), I lead Planetree’s growth, partnerships, and consultancy across the region. My role involves working closely with healthcare organizations to implement person-centered care practices, cultural transformation, guiding them through Planetree Certification, and providing strategic support to ensure sustainable impact. I also collaborate with ministries of health, regulatory bodies, hospital leaders, and care teams to humanize healthcare delivery at all levels
❤️ What He Loves About His Job: What inspires me most is seeing the transformation that happens when care becomes truly person-centered — when patients feel heard, staff feel valued, and organizations come together around a shared purpose. It’s incredibly fulfilling to support hospitals across diverse cultures and systems as they move from intention to impact. Being part of this journey reminds me every day why I’m passionate about healthcare improvement.
🎉 Fun Fact: I once flew to five countries in one month — not for vacation, but to meet with hospitals eager to improve patient care. Let’s just say I know my way around airport terminals (and how to find the best coffee in every time zone)!
