Ever notice how one anxious thought can spiral into a whole highlight reel?

That’s your brain doing what it does best: creating content. The more attention you give a certain thought, the more your brain serves you with similar ones — like an internal algorithm.

➡️ Focus on fear? It’ll feed you more fear.
➡️ Focus on gratitude? You’ll start noticing more things you are grateful for.
Your attention is the algorithm. What you give attention to, your brain recommends. 👀

When you sit with your feelings—without judgment—you give them space to move through you instead of getting stuck.

Ever feel like your mind won't stop spinning?

That's the worrier in you — stuck in your thoughts, playing out every possible what-if, but never moving forward. It feels exhausting, like running in place.

Now meet the warrior — not fearless, but brave. A warrior accepts uncertainty and welcomes discomfort, because they know what truly matters. They take action, even when it's hard, even when it hurts.

One of my yoga teachers said something along these lines in a class and its stuck with me. A helpful reminder that our emotions give us cues there might be something happening in us that needs our attention. Anger can be a cue that a need isn't being met. Next time you feel angry at someone in your life, pause and ask yourself, what about this upsetting me and what might I be needing?

Before we start feeling anxious there is often a "What if" question in our head and that question is almost always tied to something we care about. Here are a few examples:

"What if I lose my job?"
"What if my partner's mad at me?"
"What if no one likes me?"
"What if I get sick?"
"What if my house burns down?
"What if I'm wrongly convicted of a crime and spend the rest of my life behind bars?!"

If you care about your income, relationships, health, home, and livelihood, I imagine each of those examples makes you feel a little uneasy. That's because anxiety is created when something we care about feels uncertain. So the next time you notice you are anxious, stop and see if you can identify what value is showing up. You worry because you care.

I took this photo in Sedona, AZ , one of my favorite places to visit. Looking at this sunset I realized how little I actually take time to look at the sky. And what a shame that is! There are endless lessons to learn from nature. It is amazing to see the colors of the sky change so often, depending on the weather and time of day. A reminder that, while nothing in life is constant, we can and must appreciate each moment. So I encourage you, whatever you are doing today or tonight, can you stop for a moment to look up at the sky? 🌄
