We are happy to welcome Dr. Leslie Bulyaki to Body in Balance. Dr Bulyaki is a board certified chiropractic physician who graduated from National University of Health Sciences (National College of Chiropractic) in 2001. He has been practicing in Chicago since he graduated. He is married with a 14 year-old boy who keeps him and his wife very busy in their free time.

In 2001 Dr. Bulyaki was rear – ended in a car accident. He was injured with a broken back as well as a left lumbar disc herniation that left him with severe nerve pain and numbness in his left leg. Dr. Bulyaki was treated by medical doctors who prescribed strong opioids and muscle relaxants and then sent him for physical therapy. Being a chiropractor, Dr. Bulyaki, learned much about the differences between physical therapy , medical and chiropractic, and how much more powerful they are when combined.

Dr. Bulyaki’s experience as a chiropractor has made him acutely aware of the pitfalls that are encountered on the “road to wellness.” All aspects of care from nutrition to active exercise therapy are addressed in the treatment plan. This includes gentler techniques that don’t “pop” joints and other methods of treatment including Active Release Technique, Kinesiotaping, and many more. This included with rehab and working with the nurse practitioner to help you the best way possible. Every patient is different and so what is needed to get you better will be tailored to your needs.

Experiencing headaches and neck tension? This type of headache is likely a “cervicogenic headache,” meaning a problem in your neck is the trigger.

A systematic review found that the following were the most effective treatments for these types of headaches:

✔️ Spinal manipulation
✔️ Soft tissue therapy
✔️ Exercise

A recent study found that doing 75 minutes of aerobic exercise per week plus 2-5 muscle-strengthening activities was linked to a reduced risk of developing chronic low back pain.
