I have been moderately busy with a few customers for speaker re-coning, working on a Celestion 12 inch for a guitar player in Chicago, I can always do more here. Ken? Bring it on!

Hi to my loyal customers, and those who are new to getting speaker repair.

This corona pandemic really bites, but I am still doing repairs, you call for an appointment (847)297-0820, and let me know when you'll be coming by (I'm always here b.t.w.) and we meet right outside, I have a little table and two chairs outside, hand sanitizer and plenty of masks, we will briefly discuss your repair needs and you will get a signed ticket and be on your way, secure in the knowledge that your items will be handled professionally and promptly. Thanks for your support! James C. Galli

Still for sale, still hale.

I've decided to offer this speaker for sale. It's a JBL K140 recently rebuilt with JBL certified replacement parts. 200 watts of vintage lovelyness you will most assuredly enjoy for guitar or electric bass usage. Just $125.00 takes it home!

I'm not sure what my customer paid for this 1975 Vibrolux Reverb Amp 20 years ago when he got it, and had it converted to "blackface" circuit-wise, but it sure sounds great now that I put a new "ClassicTone #40-18041 transformer into it and re-biased the power tubes, tightened up the contacts in the tube sockets, tested it for a good long time, I'd say it'll go another twenty years with no problems! Looks like two grand to me!

This is the Kef model 104/2 floor standing 3 way from the mid 1980's. It came into the shop not producing any sound whatsoever. Right away I suspected a crossover problem, there was only a very slight chance that all five transducers would be blown out.

It took a full 45 minutes to disassemble just to test everything with a click checker, and inspect the x-overs, all the individual components passed a click, but the main crossover board at the top had some bad corrosion and traces eaten away at a crucial spot which caused a complete loss of signal to the input of the crossover. It's a fairly easy fix to use two new capacitors and leave the leads poking through the back of the board as new circuit traces.

Problem solved in less than two hours.

I've been busy with several items here, I continue to re-foam the JBL 2214H-8's for my customer, and give his amps a checkup and tune, just reconed a little 8" guitar speaker for the music store, where tomorrow I'll drop it off and pick up a Mackie 18 to recone. I am waiting for the parts for two 10 inch special design to recone, and generally staying busy and healthy, it looks like meatloaf tonight! Mmmm!

Still reconing lots of speakers here, call me to arrange a drop off! (847) 297-0820 not a cell phone. Thanks!

Here is a typical field coil driver from a 1940's radio I just rebuilt. It has a cone for a 12 inch speaker, and a field coil at the rear which is also used as a filter in the radio's DC power supply. These speakers are generally more efficient than permanent magnet types, and will sound rich and full with most audio content. Now I must ship it to the guy in GA who restored the radio portion.

I have one Gibson/Heppner 12" circa 1972, fresh off the bench ready for sale ($50.00), it's restored to original condition, and fine for any single or double 12 combo amp.

Otherwise, I have been busy servicing amps, and keeping up with regular speaker rebuilding jobs for all manner of good folks! Call me for service on your blown speakers @ (847) 297-0820 Thanks!
Stay warm!!!

Need some good 12 inch guitar speakers? I'll have these ready to unload next week or so.
