🌟 August is National Wellness Month, a time to prioritize mental wellness as an essential part of overall health! At Dallas Behavioral Healthcare Hospital, we understand that mental wellness is just as important as physical wellness.

We are proud to offer comprehensive care through our inpatient psychiatric and intensive outpatient programs. These programs are designed to support individuals on their journey toward better mental health.

Exciting news! This fall, we are launching an evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) specifically for students aged 5-17. This will provide flexible options for young individuals seeking support while managing their academic commitments.

Join us in recognizing National Wellness Month by focusing on mental wellness. Remember, taking care of your mind is a vital aspect of living a healthy, fulfilling life. 💚

Meet Winnie the Therapy Dog 🐾🍯

Certified to comfort, born to love.

Winnie is a certified pet therapy Goldendoodle with a heart as soft as his fluffy platinum golden coat. Born on May 25, 2023, and raised in a lively home with two other dogs and two cats, Winnie brings warmth and a touch of peace wherever he goes.

Both of his parents are Goldendoodles, and his personality is just as golden. Inspired by his namesake, Winnie the Pooh, he is gentle, thoughtful, and kind. Whether he’s curling up for snuggles or quietly sitting beside someone who needs comfort, Winnie has an uncanny ability to make people feel seen, safe, and supported.

His favorite things? Belly rubs, crunchy carrot sticks, homemade doggie ice cream, and sitting outside, soaking in the breeze and the beauty around him. He lives life at his own peaceful pace—never in a rush, always in the right place at the right time.
Winnie’s mission is simple but profound: to offer unconditional love and remind every heart he meets that they are enough—just as they are.

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health care isn’t one-size-fits-all. Cultural backgrounds can affect how people experience, express, and seek help for mental health struggles.

Let’s break stigma and promote access to care for all communities. If you or a loved one is experiencing any struggles, please reach out to us for additional support.

💚🤎🤍Start the Conversation Day💚🤎🤍
Observed on July 3 every year, it is a day to check in with a loved one about their mental health. Mental illness may be socially isolating, so it’s crucial to check in on our friends and family regularly to show them that we care about their overall well-being.

This day encourages individuals to communicate without reluctance or fear of judgement. The conversation is the sole means for two or more individuals to share information.

It is critical to have effective communication skills since they play an important part in creating a safe space for your loved one.

Here are some effective communication skills that can enhance interactions and foster better understanding:

1. Active Listening: Engaging fully in the conversation, showing interest, and providing feedback to ensure understanding.

2. Empathy: Recognizing and acknowledging the feelings and perspectives of others to build rapport and trust.

3. Clarity and Conciseness: Conveying messages clearly and directly without unnecessary jargon or details, making information easy to understand.

4. Nonverbal Communication: Using body language, facial expressions, and gestures to reinforce verbal messages and express emotions.

5. Open-Mindedness: Being receptive to different viewpoints and ideas, facilitating a more constructive dialogue.

6. Confidence: Communicating assertively and expressing thoughts and opinions clearly while maintaining respect for others.

7. Questioning Techniques: Asking open-ended questions to encourage dialogue, gain insights, and clarify understanding.

8. Constructive Feedback: Providing and receiving feedback in a positive manner to promote growth and development.

9. Adaptability: Adjusting communication styles to suit different audiences and contexts for better engagement.

10. Patience: Allowing time for responses and processing information, particularly in emotionally charged situations.

If your loved one needs additional support, reach out to us! Let us walk alongside them on their journey to mental wellness.
