Remember when you had energy in the morning? Like actual energy. Not just caffeine pretending to be energy.

You used to feel like yourself. You had a good morning. You made it through the day without crashing. You didn’t need to psych yourself up just to make dinner.

And at some point that version of you just quietly disappeared. You kept waiting for her to come back. You figured it was stress. Or the season of life. Or just mom stuff.

But here is what actually happened: your gut lost the bacteria it needed to keep your inflammation in check.

None of that happens by accident. It happens because of what you do in your 30s and 40s.

You’ve told yourself it’s just getting older. You’ve told yourself this is what being a mom in your 30s feels like. You’ve maybe even told your doctor and they ran labs and said everything looks normal.

So you take some ibuprofen. You try stretching before bed. You Google “why do my joints hurt in the morning” at 11pm and fall down a rabbit hole of autoimmune forums and scare yourself to sleep.

This High Protein Cucumber & Chickpea Salad takes 5 minutes, uses one can of chickpeas, and requires zero culinary talent. You’re welcome.

25 grams of protein. From a salad. With no meat, no powder involved.

Chickpeas have more protein and fiber than whatever supplement your MLM friend is trying to sell you. Just saying.

This is The M.I.L.F. Method in a bowl. Moms In Love With Fiber. It’s a whole thing.

🛒 Ingredients:
∙ 1 English cucumber, sliced
∙ 1 15 oz can of chickpeas, drained & rinsed
∙ Fresh dill, chopped
∙ ½ cup dairy-free feta
∙ 2 tbsp distilled white vinegar
∙ 1 tbsp olive oil
∙ Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions:
1. Slice your cucumber and drain your chickpeas
2. Toss everything into a bowl
3. Drizzle with olive oil and vinegar
4. Fold in the dairy-free feta and fresh dill
5. Season with salt & pepper and mix
6. Refrigerate for 20 minutes if you have the patience for that

The peptide trend is everywhere right now, but here’s what’s not being talked about: the quality of evidence, long-term safety data, and whether there are equally effective AND safer alternatives.

I’m not anti-peptides. I’m genuinely interested in where this research goes. But I am anti-hype without critical thinking.

When you’re exhausted and burnt out, it’s easy to want the quick fix. I get it. But what are you trading in the long run for that short-term gain?

As a nurse practitioner, I always ask: Is there something that works just as well (or better) with a proven safety profile?

Most of the time, the answer is yes and it involves eating real food, moving your body, and giving your system what it actually needs to heal.

The basics aren’t sexy. They’re not quick. But they’re backed by decades of research and they actually work long-term.

Fight the FOMO. Do your research. And remember that anecdotes aren’t evidence.
