October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) is observed every October to raise awareness about domestic violence, honor survivors, and remember those who have lost their lives. DVAM grew out of the "Day of Unity" first conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) in 1981.

Ways to get involved
1.Wear purple: Purple is the symbolic color for the domestic violence awareness movement, representing peace, courage, and survival. Many participate in Purple Thursday, held on the third Thursday of October, by wearing purple to show support for survivors.
2.Share information: Use social media to promote resources and statistics using hashtags like and , which highlights how common domestic violence is.
3. Donate or volunteer: Contribute to or volunteer at local domestic violence shelters and organizations that provide critical services to survivors and their families.
4.Host a drive: Collect and donate needed items, such as clothing, household goods, and hygiene products, for local shelters.
5.Educate yourself and others: Learn to recognize the signs of abuse, which can start subtly and escalate over time. Abusive behavior includes isolation, verbal abuse, unexplained injuries, and financial control.
6.For help and resources
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, confidential support is available:
National Domestic Violence Hotline: Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), text START to 88788, or visit thehotline.org for support and resources.
StrongHearts Native Helpline: Visit strongheartshelpline.org for culturally appropriate support for Native Americans and Alaska Natives.
RAINN (R**e, Abuse & In**st National Network): Visit rainn.org for support for sexual violence.

This October, join us in honoring Domestic Violence Awareness Month by bringing HOPE to survivors. đź’ś

Each year, over 3 million people turn to DomesticShelters.org for life-saving resources to escape and heal from abuse.

Your donation—whether $5 or $500—helps us provide education, support, and hope. Every bit makes a difference. 💪

Learn how to address opioiate abuse and trauma

How trauma can hijack your brains functioning (Part 2)

What trauma triggers from that person's behavior is sending what message to my brain?

Have you ever experienced something so stressful that you had one of these five trauma responses: Flight (a defensive response), Fawn (you appease or pacify the situation or person to avoid the conflict), Freeze (your brain feels like it is paralyzed because you are overwhelmed with the situation), Flight (you want to run away and escape the situation) and Flop (you feel like you faint or collapse or you have lost control, you may feel dizzy as well) and you didn't know what to do. It's because of what is happening in your brain.

That is because the part of your brain that controls emotional response reactivity, the Amygdala, often has one of the five traumas responses when it is faced with a fear or a threat. And it becomes hard for you to process your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions and your behavior, it inhibits cognitive functioning and literally hijacks your brain. It can inhibit your decision making and it can you nay feel edgy and you struggle with managing the balance between your thoughts and your emotions.

Oprah's parable of the six trees: Manifestation: What you think, you can achieve

Good Soil 2025: The Transformation Agenda, owes me nothing! This year was simply amazing. The information that was shared for entrepreneurs, was amazing. It was thought-provoking, it was personal, it was developmental, but it was just simply created for this time and season. There was so much confirmation that I received in my spirit of where I'm going, and who I am, and where I have come from.
The event's focus on supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs through funding, mentorship, and connection to resources is truly inspiring. It's great to hear that the speakers, including Oprah Winfrey, John Hope Bryant, David Banner, Vusi, and Wallstreet Trapper, were so impactful in sharing knowledge about business growth and entrepreneurship.
The theme "Transformation Agenda" definitely resonated with me. Wherever there is pain, there is growth and a process that recreates you!
and it's encouraging to see how pain and challenges can lead to growth and positive change.
