Theaters that have eight or more screens or show a movie more than five times in a week would be required to offer at least two screenings each week with on-screen captions under a new bill in the Michigan Senate.

The legislation aimed at improving accessibility for residents who are deaf or hard of hearing was introduced earlier this month by state Sen. Stephanie Chang, D-Detroit.
