Shop local โ even with your healthcare dollars.
At Plum Health, every dollar you spend directly supports your local community. Your payment goes directly to your doctor, advanced practice provider, nurse, and medical assistant right here in Detroit.
When we send patients for imaging studies, we choose local radiology companies like Regional Medical Imaging or Basha Diagnostics, both based in Southeast Michigan. For sharps disposal, we work with Hospital Network Healthcare Services, a company based in Portage, Michigan. Pathology samples are sent to DirectPath in Bingham Farms.
Most of our specialist referrals go to independent doctors. For example, cardiologist Dr. Savas in Southfield, dermatologist Dr. Carter-Snell in Midtown Detroit, and ophthalmologist Dr. Emmert-Buck in Pontiac are all independent providers offering affordable, cash-pay rates.
Whenever possible, we intentionally work with locally owned clinics, doctorโs offices, and healthcare companies. Not only do these organizations provide high-quality and cost-effective care, but they are run by people invested in the well-being of their neighbors.
As my friend Rachel Lutz highlighted in a recent post about retail shopping:
โFor every $1 you spend at a local, independent shop, nearly 70ยข stays in your community. When you shop at a local chain store, about 35ยข stays. Shopping online keeps less than 1ยข local.โ
The same principle applies to healthcare. Supporting an independent doctorโs office ensures more money stays in the community, unlike some large healthcare providers owned by out-of-state, for-profit entities.
Choose care that not only prioritizes your health but also invests in your community.
