Feeling tired-but-wired? Discover Yoga Nidra — a guided practice of deep rest where you lie down, release tension, and learn rest as a skill, not a luxury. Read Andrea Fiondo’s short introduction to this restorative practice and find tools to reset your nervous system. Read the full post: https://wix.to/a7zgnSS

Sat Nam, and Welcome in,Most of us are tired in a very specific way.Not “I need a nap” tired. More like, tired-but-wired. Overstimulated. Unable to fully shut down, even when we finally stop moving. And for many people, meditation doesn’t help — not because they’re doing it wrong, but becau...

Sometimes the thing we’re avoiding saying is the thing that sets us free.
Circle time after yoga tends to reveal this.
Bring it forth. The Tribe has spoken.

Today is the Winter Solstice — the longest night, the turning point toward light.

Sunday afternoon doesn’t ask for productivity.
It asks for rest, for letting the body land,
for trusting that growth can happen quietly.

You don’t need to optimize this moment.
You don’t need to make meaning.
You don’t need to move.

If this post could be said in silence,
this would be it.

What is KYD?

Andrea Fiondo and Mike Hendrian took the unfinished third floor of their 1930s home in the University District of Detroit and created a 900-square-foot space for the free flow of energy without restriction, without prejudice, without judgment, and without exclusivity. Energy is in the breath and in the compassion of our instructors, teachers and practitioners. Through our personal journey to become a couple with a purpose based on service to humans, we decided on Kundalini Yoga as inspired by Yogi Bhajan and Ravi Singh as our grounding source of Energy. We took our training through KRI/3HO but have become disillusioned with the organization in the way they seem to have elevated the person of Yogi Bhajan rather than the Yoga of Self-Awareness. We have a passion to bring this life-transforming art and science of yoga to the youth, to the aged, to the left-out-of-yoga, to the men and women of Windsor, Detroit, and her suburbs, to ease suffering and increase joy. Ours is a heart-centered practice. We use both Kundalini Research Institute yoga and meditation techniques and Buddhist mindfulness techniques, Yin, hatha and kundalini yoga techniques as taught by Ravi Singh and Ana Brett. We teach pranayama and kundalini yoga mantra and chanting. We hold space for Sound Healing/Gong Immersions, and other workshops, all designed to enlighten, awaken, and elevate the spirit of the student in a lasting way. Our classes are $10- $15; if this is a hardship simply pay what you can. We serve Decaf Iced Tea in the hot weather, and Chai Tea otherwise, and we often have light refreshments. No experience necessary, no special clothing, equipment or knowledge needed. But come prepared to move from the space you’re in, to the space where you will find your inner peace. It’s fast, it’s challenging, it’s different. Please visit our website and/or call 1-313-516-6115 for more information. --Andrea and Mike
