High-stakes games can do more than raise emotions 😲 Cardiologist Dr. Chadi Alraies from Detroit Receiving Hospital says your heart can feel the pressure too. Big moments in sports can trigger a rush of adrenaline that raises heart rate and blood pressure, similar to moderate exercise.

He recommends fans:

📺 Taking short breaks during commercials
👟 Moving around
💧 Drinking water
🍿 Being mindful of snacking, especially salty foods

For those with heart conditions, even watching only the highlights instead of the full game may help reduce stress. “Big games, big emotions, and the heart feels it,” says Dr. Alraies.

While cheering on her beloved Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, lifelong super fan Andrea experienced a sudden and serious health emergency. Rushed to DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, she received life-saving care — but her journey was only just beginning.

At DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, Andrea faced one of the biggest challenges of her life: relearning to walk, move, and perform everyday tasks. With the same fierce determination she brings to every Tigers game, she fought her way back — step by step, pitch by pitch.

Today, she’s made a full recovery and is back cheering on her team as they battle through the ALDS! ⚾🔥

Let’s hear it for Andrea— a true fighter and a forever Tiger fan. 💙🧡

Special thanks to FOX 2 Detroit for sharing Andrea’s inspiring story.

A Tigers fan who was at Wednesday's big game is happy to be able to cheer on her team after nearly losing her life outside Comerica Park two years prior.
