A recent poll finds that older Michigan drivers (65+) feel very confident behind the wheel, even more than peers in other states, and many continue to drive regularly. But less than half have a plan for the day they might need to give up the keys, even though changes in health and mobility can make driving harder over time.

What this means for YOU or someone you love:
Confidence is great — independence matters
Planning ahead is even better — for safety & peace of mind

For 37 years, Detroit Area Agency on Aging has delivered warmth and care through Christmas Meals on Wheels, this year providing 5,500 hot meals to older adults and adults with disabilities across Metro Detroit.

Proud to celebrate 16 years of partnership with the DTE Energy Foundation, whose volunteers and support help us deliver more than meals; delivering joy, connection, and community.

In February, the Go 4 It: Send Some Love event, hosted by WDIV Local 4, brought together community members to create heartfelt, handwritten cards and letters for seniors, active military members, and foster children.

One recipient, Patricia Allen, a senior recovering from surgery, shared how much the thoughtful messages meant during her recovery. Regina McIver also expressed her appreciation, noting how special it felt to receive a handwritten card in today’s digital age, a reminder of the warmth and connection behind a personal note.

Stay tuned at detroitseniorsolution.org for more opportunities to spread love, kindness, and connection throughout our community.
