☀️ Success-Fest 2026 was Illuminating!

We met so many new providers and had the chance to connect in person with colleagues we work with every day around patient care. Those conversations are so energizing and a wonderful reminder of how strong our community network is.

Our booth added a little extra brightness with sun décor and stress-ball giveaways. We were simply so happy to be there!

Thank you to Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, Open Sky Community Services and Wayside Youth & Family Support Network for making this enlightening day come together!

Caring. Leading. Healing. Women of TaraVista.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words — but this photo only begins to tell the story.

Behind it are women from across TaraVista — nurses, clinicians, counselors, social workers, intake specialists, administrators, and support staff — representing many roles, backgrounds, and generations. Together, they form a community of colleagues united by a shared purpose: caring for our patients and supporting one another every day.

On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the compassion, leadership, and dedication of the women who help make TaraVista the place it is.💜

We were proud to see our Medical Director, Dr. Allison Beckler, participate in a powerful panel discussion this week following the screening of Shattered Ice at Worcester State University.

Shattered Ice is a film that uses the world of sports to open an honest conversation about youth su***de and mental health. The event was made possible through the leadership and support of the Reliant Foundation, which funded the film as part of its commitment to advancing mental health education. Dr. Beckler also serves as a board member of the Foundation.

More than 300 students attended, and the conversation that followed was thoughtful, honest, and deeply moving. What stood out most was the students’ willingness to speak openly and their clear commitment to looking out for one another.

💚 March 2 — World Teen Mental Health Awareness Day 💚
This day is especially meaningful to us at TaraVista Behavioral Health Center.

Caring for teens at some of the most crucial moments in their mental health journey is a significant part of our mission. We meet young people — and their families — during vulnerable, often overwhelming times. Our responsibility is not only to provide clinical care, but to create an environment where teens feel safe, respected, and understood.

We see every day how powerful it is when a young person feels heard. Sometimes the first step toward healing is simply having someone say, “You’re not alone. We’re here.”

💚 World Teen Mental Health Awareness Day is also a reminder that support extends beyond hospital walls. As a community, we can:
• Normalize conversations about mental health
• Pay attention to changes in mood, sleep, or social connection
• Respond with curiosity instead of judgment
• Encourage early connection to care

💚When a higher level of support is needed, access to care should feel compassionate and human. TaraVista Behavioral Health Center, together with our sister hospital MiraVista Behavioral Health Center in Holyoke, is proud to serve as a New England-wide resource for youth inpatient mental health treatment. Through our direct admission pathways, families and providers can access care in a kinder, gentler way — helping young people move into treatment without unnecessary barriers.

💚Today offers us the opportunity to remind ourselves that when a community shows up with heart, teens don’t walk their journey alone.

MARCH 1 is National Self-Injury Awareness Day 🧡
Today we recognize National Self-Injury Awareness Day — an important opportunity to bring light to a behavior that is often hidden by shame and silence.

Self-injury is more prevalent than many realize—affecting roughly 1 in 5 females and 1 in 7 males—yet it remains clouded by stigma. It is an often a misunderstood coping mechanism used to manage overwhelming emotional pain, numbness, or past trauma.

If you are struggling:
Please know that you are not alone and there is no shame in what you are going through. The first and most important step is to tell someone; you do not have to carry this weight by yourself.

To support a loved one:
If someone reaches out to you, be open and non-judgmental. Listen to their experience and gently encourage them to seek professional support.

Mental health treatment works:
There are many healthy ways to manage intense emotional distress. Getting help is for yourself or a loved one is an important step to take.

Every Black History Month, we look forward to sharing the story of two remarkable Framingham residents whose impact still resonates today.

Solomon Carter Fuller and Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller were a married couple who each helped shape their fields in powerful ways during the early 20th century — one in medicine, one in art.

🧠Of course, in the mental health field, Dr. Fuller is deeply revered for his contributions. As the first Black psychiatrist in the United States and a pioneer in Alzheimer’s research right here in Massachusetts at Westborough State Hospital, his work helped lay important groundwork for modern psychiatry. As a professor at Boston University, he influenced generations of clinicians, and the Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center in Boston carries his name in recognition of his lasting impact.

🎨 Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller was a visionary sculptor and an important voice of the Harlem Renaissance. Her art captured the Black American experience with strength and truth, and many of her works can be found locally at Danforth Art Museum.
