🎉 We are now Altru Hospital Devils Lake!🎉

The transition to Altru is now complete! 🎉🏥 Our team celebrated as the new sign was installed — marking an important milestone in expanding access to high-quality care across the Lake Region.

This transition brings our hospital into the Altru Health System umbrella, strengthening care close to home and setting the stage for expanded services and more visiting specialists in the months ahead.

As a reminder, our transition to Altru Health System takes place on Sunday, March 1st. Branding and signage will be changing over the next couple of weeks in and around the hospital.

On Monday, March 2nd, the sign above the main entrance (door 1 near the ER) to the hospital will be changed. Please be advised that there will be work trucks in the loop to complete this. The approximate time will be from 11:30am until 1:30pm.

It is important to know that the hospital, ER, and all services will be operating as usual and there will be no interruption to care as these changes are made. All patients, visitors, and vendors will be able to access entrance through door 1.

With the number of measles cases increasing in our area of the state, it's important to know what options you have if you believe you have been exposed.

If you believe you have been exposed or are experiencing symptoms consistent with measles, please call 701-662-9752 to speak with a nurse before seeking care in person.

A nurse is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

North Dakota has recently joined in on the PA Licensure compact! We now join in with 20 other states as a way to remove some workforce barriers. This is the first major win to come from the Rural Health Transformation Program for our state.

In addition to our Blessings Box, our hospital has a small amount of things available to patients in need** that range from basic supplies to a clean shirt. Baby items are always needed for our littlest patients.

All items that are freshly cleaned or new may be dropped off with our Community Health Worker (CHW), Ashley Roulette, at the hospital. Any baby formula must be unopened. Contact details for our CHW can be found on the flyer for additional questions.

**Patients in need are identified by completing a Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) form and/or being referred to the CHW by hospital staff for additional resources outside the hospital. This is not available to the public to take as they want.**

Following up from our post last month, we wanted to make sure that the community knows that our blessings box is currently in our waiting area at the hospital, just outside the main ER doors.

Donations are continually being accepted for anyone who wishes to give. Other boxes will be put throughout the community once oversight is determined in those locations. Items that are in this box are open to anyone that may need them, no questions asked.

In case you haven't seen the major news about us... our long-awaited approval has come through and our hospital will officially be a part of Altru Health System March 1st, 2026!

The Devils Lake Daily Journal will feature an article soon about this transition as well as a special 'History of Mercy Hospital' bit. More can be found on their Facebook post from 12/17.

Originally, Altru had hoped for a spring 2025 takeover of the Devils Lake facility, but had to wait for CommonSpirit Health to get the faith-based hospital taken off the Catholic registry

This morning, CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake President Tanner White and Marketing/Communications Director Amanda Moon presented the seventh $10,000 check to Mrs. Michelle Clouse, principal at St. Joseph Catholic School. This is part of the $100,000 commitment to various projects throughout the school made by the hospital over a 10-year time span.

We look forward to seeing the continued updates to the chapel, resource center, and school as our commitment continues!
