Some good information regarding sensory processing and how Occupational Therapy can help from our friends at HK Pediatric Therapy!
What is Sensory Processing? π§ πΆ
Sensory processing is how our brain takes in and makes sense of the information we receive through our senses, like touch, sound, movement, and sight. This impacts how we respond to the world around us.
For children, this process plays a huge role in how they learn, move, play, and interact with others. When sensory processing is working well, kids can stay calm, focused, and organized in everyday environments like school, home, and the playground. But when itβs not working smoothly, things like clothing textures, loud noises, or even a swing can feel overwhelming.
We support children in understanding, regulating, and responding to sensory input in ways that help them thrive. π
