This month we’re dispelling some of the biggest myths in non-emergency medical transportation

One of the biggest misconceptions in NEMT is: “it’s just for seniors.”

This isn’t true. NEMT isn’t age specific – it’s need specific and supports a wide range of people across different ages, communities, and healthcare needs.

We’re proud to share that Call the Car is sponsoring the Southern California Kidney Walk for the 8th year in a row!

The walk will take place at Griffith Park in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 28, and many of our team members, along with their families and friends, will be walking to support those living with kidney disease.

Dialysis members make up a large part of the Call the Car community, and by supporting the National Kidney Foundation and this annual walk, we’re committed to going above and beyond to make a difference.

Some of our Call the Car team recently took part in the Angels 5K & Fun Run for The Angels Baseball Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Los Angeles Angels.

Established in 2004, The Angels Baseball Foundation concentrates on investments in education, healthcare, arts and sciences and community-related youth programs throughout the region.

Held on Saturday, June 21st at Angel Stadium, this was the 15th annual Angels 5K & Fun Run, so our team marked the occasion by wearing Angels-themed Call the Car merchandise.

This week, our 3rd-floor team, made up of our Corporate Support, and Administrative and Oversight Teams and 3rd floor Crew invited the entire Call the Car team for a Hawaiian Luau potluck.

Trading in their desks for leis, the team wore colorful shirts and shared tropical treats as part of the Hawaiian celebration.

A big thank you to everyone on the third floor for cooking, decorating, and hosting the event. It was a delicious feast and a great success.

How did NEMT begin in the US? NEMT services in the US began to gain traction in the late 1960s and 70s, primarily due to the need to support Medicaid beneficiaries, many of whom were returning to Vietnam War veterans requiring long-term care.

At Call the Car, we are proud to serve a diverse community and recognize that inclusive and respectful care begins the moment someone steps into one of our vehicles.

This Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to providing safe and reliable transportation for all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

As well as upholding an inclusive and supporting working environment for our Call the Car employees.

Accessibility, dignity, and equity are not optional – they are foundational to the work we do every day, the services we deliver, and the environments we create for our teams.

To our LGBTQ+ patient members, employees, and community partners: We see you and we will continue to support you.

Happy Pride Month!
