Western omelette with some hash & A TON of ketchup.

Sarcasm on the ketchup.

I enjoy it. I continue to use it.

Turns out my body fat % isn’t effected by a few added condiments each week.

Anyways- went to a restaurant and ate half of this.

Saved for later.

Most portions are way too big for the average human.

I’m not saying you can’t eat it all. I’m saying from a caloric needs standpoint.

Most people are good between 400-600 calories for main meals especially if snacking.

Orange Julius for the win šŸ˜‹

This was pretty delicious -

āœ… low sugar OJ
āœ… coconut milk
āœ… frozen peaches
āœ… vanilla/orange protein powder
āœ…ice

Insert sarcastic remark-

Ok I will-

Man, being healthy is so damn hard.

Reminder to eat your greens 🄬

Produce has vitamins/minerals/micronutrients REQUIRED for body functions.

So what if I don’t get them in?

Well…your body will make do & eventually have severe deficiencies which can cause a bunch of problems.

Anyways, be like Lenin & eat your damn veggies 🤩

Workouts don’t have to look a certain way-

I used to have that mindset.

It went something like:

I need to have an hour.
I need to get sore.
I need to lift weights.
I need to get a pump.
I need to train until failure.

Man…kinda some crazy parameters.

If I didn’t reach those or have what I needed- I didn’t count it or just didn’t work out.

An all or nothing mindset.

It’s a handicap.

What if the idea of exercise correlated with the results you are after?

So, for most, it’s to feel better and look better naked.

OK, so getting your heart rate up, enjoying the type of exercise, & consistently doing it could get you there.

Anyways, my rest breaks, this particular day, involved throwing the football around.

It’s time to make a change.

Our nutrition in the US continues to decline despite all the knowledge and information we have at our fingertips.

This is probably where you stop reading or scroll by cuz you don’t agree or don’t want to.

That’s fine.

Anyways, parents, teammates, coaches, friends-

Is time to change the dynamic and lift each other up in some way.

We are all in positions to make a positive change.

Suggesting to eat at a better restaurant.
Hold our team to a higher standard.
Buy less $ + food.

The list goes on.

1 in 6 kids are overweight.
3 in 4 adults are overweight.

Why?

Poor nutrition & lack of movement.

Unpopular opinion I know & I’m sure this post won’t get me the clicks and likes I’m after. šŸ™„

I’m hopeful it’ll wake some of us up & make a change.

Myself included. I need to do more for myself, my family, the community, etc.

This hit the headlines as of late so thought I would share.

Personal opinion: I like the concept of eating less processed foods as that’s the idea behind The New Pyramid.

The photo, imo, doesn’t exactly show that.

Bananas are near the top. Canned tuna & canned green beans are the the bottom.

I understand these are minimal ingredient options- they are just more processed to have a longer shelf life.

Less processed foods should go bad. That’s me being picky.

Anyways- for the vast majority of people, following this is a solid idea.

There are many exceptions too- vegetarians. Aren’t going to follow this. Meat no bueno.

*in oriental countries, most live on a lot more grains and live longer…..

Overall, think the idea is good and question a few details.

Nutrition and hydration affect performance by over 10%. This is specifically in sports research. Bigger numbers elsewhere.

Crunch time for winter sports competition & dealing with cold/flu season.

My kids don’t like it some days. You know what tho, it starts at home with us, the parents.

Things won’t ever change if we don’t.

Getting to be tournament time where nutrition is crucial especially when there are multiple games involved.

Heck, these are good for just general population too.

I know I travel with applesauce packets & beef jerky basically all the time.

Better fuel gets better results.

What’s your go to?

PSA- those taking GLP-1 medications:

If you notice yourself looking ā€œgreyā€, it’s most likely due to significant weight loss (coming off too fast)
&
Malnutrition.

Chat with your prescriber & get things dialed in (back) & improve nutrition with food & supplements.

Yes, I said and because you need all the nutrition you can get imo.

Take high quality stuff too- Walmart options aren’t going to cut it.

Breakfast for supper!

Almost went fully farm-fresh, antibiotic -free, keto & low carb…

The ketchup ruined it.

Hopeful my sarcasm comes thru here.

The all-or-nothing mindset in the fitness world is negatively affecting health imo.

Kinda sux when you are sold the magic pill and it doesn’t work.

Hate to break it to you, the magic pill is discipline.

*GLP-1 insertion has actually changed that a bit.

Anyways- enjoy food & get results.

If not getting results you want, maybe a change is needed.

Here’s a reminder: most ā€œresultsā€ online are fabricated & half-truths told.

You know what else checks boxes?

Anyways- Qdoba provides 2 meals in 1 bowl & I’m a fan.

Let me tell you a secret- I get the WHITE rice. My tummy has less bloat. Yes I know it’s not brown which is claimed as healthier.

Probably so on paper & yet, I feel better with the higher glycemic loadšŸ˜‘

That’s Dietitian talk for a higher blood sugar response after eating.

New Record in the Bulgarian Squat.

Said something about not lifting over 80 # for about 10 years the other day- figured it was time to beat the record.

I only do it for clicks & likes tho šŸ™„

Ok, what’s the point of this Joe?

Most only show the highlight reel because it looks awesome & people say ā€œI want thatā€.

They don’t see the sidelined athlete, the low back pain, the therapy, etc.

Truthfully, I hate social media for that reason.

This particular video was set 2. I got almost 6 good reps.

Set 3 I went down about 20 # & went for 8 good, quality reps.

I down-shifted.

I kept going. I also decreased my rest break to keep up the intensity.

I didn’t sideline myself.

Learn how to keep moving forward. Downshift when needed.
Protect yourself from disaster.

No- it doesn’t mean make it easy.

Find out just how hard you can push the limits and get results while avoiding injury or negative outcomes.

ok bye

PS I hate Bulgarian squats.
