Our Employee Spotlight for September is one of our incredible providers, Brook Hawkins, NP! 🎉Brooke worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Horizon Medical Center from 2003-2010 🩺. Since 2007, she has been practicing at Women's Health Center of Dickson as a Nurse Practitioner . Brooke's favorite part of the job is providing care to women throughout different stages in their lives. We love working with her and appreciate everything she does in our office! Some fun facts about Brooke is that she is a huge fan of both the TN Vols🏈and Atlanta Brave Baseball⚾ . Congratulations Brooke!

August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month! At Women's Health Center of Dickson we support every mother's feeding choices, but also want to share some benefits of breast feeding. Some benefits for mom include 1) Breastfeeding may make it easier to lose the weight you gained during pregnancy 2)Women who breastfeed longer have lower rates of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, and 3) Women who breastfeed have lower rates of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Some benefits for the baby include 1) Breast milk has the right amount of fat, sugar, water, protein, and minerals needed for a baby's growth and development 2) Breast milk is easier to digest than formula 3) Breastfed babies often have less gas, fewer feeding problems, and less constipation, and 4) Breast milk contains antibodies that protect infants from certain illnesses. This year the theme for World Brain Day is "Brain Health for All Ages! This theme highlights the importance of brain health throughout all of life, beginning before birth and spanning through childhood, adulthood, and beyond. Ways to improve and maintain your brain health include regular exercise, a nutritious diet, sufficient sleep, stress management, and learning new things! Happy World Brain Day!

Happy UV safety awareness month! Here at the Woman's Health Center we want to provide you with a few ways to keep your skin protected this summer! Wear a hat, use UV protective sunglasses, wear protective clothing, avoid being in direct sunlight in the middle of the day (about 11 am - 3 pm), use sunscreen (with at least SPF 30), and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Those of you who enjoy our many lakes and rivers, remember that water reflects sunlight! Have an amazing summer and protect your skin!

Welcome to the world, Atlas and Elle!

It’s not every day that sisters deliver babies, in adjacent rooms, just five hours apart. Katie and Ally have always been close, but this experience uniquely strengthened their bond. They can’t wait to watch their children grow up together!

We are grateful for the trust these precious families placed in our labor and delivery teams. TriStar Horizon is proud to offer comprehensive maternity services so that both mother and baby – and the best big sisters and dads - are supported throughout every step of labor and delivery. We truly !
