Being drunk may feel fun to begin with, but it is a sign that alcohol has temporarily changed how your brain functions. This short-lived feeling eventually fades and after a few drinks increases a person's risk of complications.

Deciding to do something different and stray from the norm can be uncomfortable, but growth and evolution happen when we challenge ourselves to do those uncomfortable things.

Take control of your life and focus on the things you enjoy that make you feel amazing. Life is about finding what fulfills you, and it's difficult to do with something like alcohol blocking your path.

What's the most exciting benefit you've noticed since starting to drink less?

Here are 9 things that give you a real dopamine hit without stealing it back with interest.

1. Cold plunge.
Dopamine spikes up to 250% above baseline and stays elevated for hours.

2. A hard run.
Your brain floods with endorphins and dopamine naturally. No crash or hangover.

3. Sauna.
Heat stress triggers a massive release of feel-good chemicals. Your body thanks you the next morning instead of punishing you.

4. A shot of espresso.
Clean energy and sharp focus.

5. A quality steak.
Protein triggers dopamine through amino acid pathways.

6. Journaling.
Writing your thoughts down activates reward circuits in the prefrontal cortex.

7. A real conversation.

8. Good music.

9. A nap.
Your brain resets, consolidates memory, and restores emotional balance.
