Unfortunately it's respiratory illness season. 15 states (the closest being Idaho) are reporting very high rates of a trifecta of RSV, Flu and COVID. Influenza A has been very prevalent in our community lately. Please remember good hand washing, staying at home when ill and yes, dare we say it wear a mask if sick or if you have chronic health conditions. Let's keep you and your family healthy this year.

The Tetanus shot recommendations are a little confusing and in this hardworking community it is so important to be protected from it. You should get one every 10 years or with any dirty wound (a cut, a puncture wound, a animal bite) if you haven't been vaccinated in the last 5 years. It just from rusty metal wounds. This flyer from the Texas Medical Association does a great job of summing it up.

There is a lot of talk about how much you need to hydrate, to little and it harms you BUT too much will harm you as well. It depends of body size, outdoor temperature (both hot and cold) and level of exertion. So how do you tell? Let your urine and thirst level be your guide. A bit icky but still very true!
