Proof that protein doesn’t always have to come from eating meat. Whipped up some fresh hummus this morning and man is it delicious and filled with protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals. Pair it with some veggies and you have a well balanced lunch/snack. 🥒🥕🌶💪🏼

One cup of cooked chickpeas contains:

269 calories
45g of carbohydrate
15g of protein
13g of dietary fiber
4g of fat

My go to hummus recipe that never disappoints and makes a ton! Instead of spending a lot on store bought hummus. Also, store bought hummus tends to have a lot of added oils besides olive oil and preservatives. 😋

*I will mention I did not use canned chickpeas and did the overnight soaking of dry chickpeas and then cooked them this morning. And to make up for not using the canned juice the chickpeas are in, I just subbed warm water until it reached the right consistency. You want it fluffy and not to thick because it will thicken when it cools. Also, I don’t put cumin in mine just out of personal preference but I’m sure it’s good. Enjoy!

Happy National Donut Day! 🍓😉Well a little different version for me. Do I like donuts, heck yea! 🍩Do I eat donuts, yes but honestly rarely. Would I rather have sustained energy from natural sugar, absolutely! 👌Just because these holidays exist doesn’t mean one should use it as an excuse. I’m not saying restrict but rather practice mindful eating. For me I much rather not have a sugar crash from eating an actual donut today. I have plans to get a workout in, walk my dogs etc and overall enjoy my day and not have a stomach ache or headache from sugar overload. So I opted for some sliced bananas, berries, homemade granola, and goat milk blackberry yogurt. And in my opinion this is way more tasty and fulfilling. Everyday, what we eat, is our choice not the media’s, our peers, and other outside influences. Be an advocate for your own body and treat it how it should be treated. You will be surprised how creative you can get with food choices and then that donut will seem less appealing.
