It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Amy Pompey Murphy, who was called home by our Lord and Savior to be reunited with her husband and best friend, Matthew. Amy departed this life on October 8, 2025, at the age of 49 while at Allied Hospice in Scranton, PA during a very brief battle with cancer.
Amy was born in November 1975. She was the proud mother of her three sons, John, Tristan and Lucas. Amy had a successful career in the food service industry. During that time, she managed and co-managed several restaurants, mentored many employees and gained numerous friends. She also managed the trucking business owned by her and Matthew prior to his untimely death.
Amy was a carefree spirit known for her sense of humor, a loyal daughter, mother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games, doing art projects, camping and hiking in the mountains of Utah and snuggling with her beloved cat, Mooshie. Amy’s involvement with her Belegarth community contributed significantly to her overall happiness and brough her great joy. She deeply cherished her best friend, Cheyenne, who had become a sister to her from the time they first met while in elementary school.
Amy devoted the past few years of her life by returning to her childhood home to help care for her aging parents along with her brother and sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew, her grandparents, and her uncle, Dominic Pompey.
Amy is survived by her parents, John and Barbara Pompey, her children: John Jones (fiancé Courtney Burns), Tristan Jones (fiancé Sadie (Fearless) Long), and Lucas Jones; her brother, James Pompey (Lori); her sister Victoria Hyatt (Martin); her aunt, Judy Pompey; uncle Edward Pompey (Marlene), her nieces, nephew, great nephews, great niece, cousins and many friends. She will be missed by many but her memory will continue.
The family would like to thank the Allied Hospice care team for the compassion and kindness they displayed during Amy’s short tenure there.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in Amy’s memory.
A celebration of life service will be held on October 25 from 4 to 6 pm at Charles Litwin Funeral Home in Nicholson, PA 18446.
