Dr. Dean Parker is a clinical psychologist who has been working in the field of behavioral health for the past four decades. He has held numerous positions including Director of the Mars and Venus Counseling Centers of Long Island, Director of Student Psychological Services at Hofstra University, Director of Clinical and Health Services at MercyFirst in Syosset, New York, and Consulting Psychologist on the Alcohol and Drug Detoxification Unit at Hempstead Medical Center. In the past, he served as a supervisor for the Psychological Evaluation and Research Center at Hofstra as well as an Adjunct Assistant Professor there for over 10 years. In addition, he has been recognized as a diplomate by the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, a national organization for professionals who deal extensively with stress and crisis intervention. Dr. Parker has been involved with the mass media on several projects. He has written and op-ed for Time Magazine entitled "Why Should We Support Ray and Janay Rice Staying Together". He also was interviewed for Sheila Weller’s biography of Carrie Fisher. In addition, Dr. Parker has been interviewed by Newsday, Cosmopolitan magazine, Redbook magazine, PsychCentral, Men’s Health Online, Complete Woman, Car and Travel, The Long Islander, Women's Health, and Woman’s World. He consulted on the A & E Network’s “The Love Chronicles” and was the online chat expert for the Lifetime TV drama “Strong Medicine.” He has also appeared as a relationship expert on “The Breakfast Club” on WALK-FM radio in New York. Dr. Parker has been in private practice for 37 years. He specializes in relationship counseling, mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, stress management, addictions, and s*x therapy.
