Pretty cool 😎
So neat knowing such creative people
Someone asked me recently what I'm hoping happens with Girls of Summer. Since we wrote this musical, I suppose I should have big dreams for it, but the truth is, we wrote it to celebrate our community.
To us, Rockford is home. And digging into our hometown's history has definitely been one of the very best parts of writing this musical.
But the other thing I keep thinking about is how every little girl should see this musical and learn more about these women and what they did to help blaze a trail for every single one of us.
As a woman, I've always taken for granted that I can do whatever a man can do...but writing this has opened my eyes to the fact that this wasn't always the case. It wasn't that many years ago that women didn't automatically have the same rights as men.
And while I know there are many areas (sports included) where women are still fighting for equality, it's important to go back and honor the people who've helped forge the path, simply by doing what they were good at.
I get inspired every time I watch our Peaches take the stage and relive that history. I'm empowered by the lyrics because they were born out of actual, real life events.
If you've got a daughter and you want her to feel like she can do anything...bring out her for GIRLS OF SUMMER.
It's family-friendly and so much fun! We'd hate for you to miss it!!
