🌽🚗 Don’t Let Cornfields Block Your Common Sense! 🚗🌽

It’s that time of year again—when the corn is high and the intersections are blind.
Just because you can’t see, doesn’t mean nothing’s coming!

👀 Slow down.
🛑 Stop fully.
➡️ Look both ways—twice.

Because getting T-boned in July? That’s a corny tragedy we can all avoid.

Let’s keep the roads safe—no need for a crash course in farming.

PLEASE USE CAUTION AT RURAL ROAD INTERSECTIONS

As we enter peak growing season with corn reaching its full height, it’s a great time to remind drivers of the importance of stopping at rural intersections. The height of the corn significantly obstructs visibility at intersections, creating blind spots that can lead to devastating crashes. Never rely on indirect indicators like dust during the day or headlights at night that another vehicle may be approaching. These do not provide adequate warning, and never assume that the other driver will yield or stop.

Stay safe:
• Stop at corners, even if there's no stop sign.
• Stop, even if you know the other road has a stop sign.
• Stop, even if you think no one is coming.

We've seen too many friends, neighbors and loved ones suffer injuries or fatalities at these blind rural intersections during growing season. Your life is precious. Rushing to save a few seconds just isn't worth the risk. Whether you're walking, biking, on a motorcycle, ATV, in your car or driving farm equipment, always – without exception – stop at the corners.

A message from your friends at DCSO and the SE MN Toward Zero Deaths program.

Looking for a service to join?? Blooming Prairie is looking for help.

🚨 Urgent Call for Help – EMTs & First Responders Needed! 🚨
Blooming Prairie Ambulance Service is in desperate need of EMTs and First Responders—especially during daytime hours. We are a volunteer service that proudly serves Blooming Prairie and the surrounding area. But we are reaching a critical point where we don’t know what the future holds without more help.

📉 Recently, there have been times where no one from our community was available to respond to emergencies—requiring ambulances from Owatonna or Austin. That delay can be the difference between life and death. When emergencies happen, seconds count.

✅ The City of Blooming Prairie pays for all training to become certified as an EMT or First Responder—no experience needed!

🙏 We are asking local businesses and organizations to please consider allowing employees to leave work for daytime emergency calls. Your support could save a life.

❤️ We need YOU—whether you're a teacher, farmer, mechanic, nurse, or student. If you live in or near Blooming Prairie and want to make a true difference, please consider joining our team.

📲 For more information or to apply, visit: www.bloomingprairie.com
📞 Or call: 507-583-7573
📧 Email: ambulance.bp@gmail.com

Let’s come together and keep our community safe. Volunteer today. Save a life tomorrow.

Our Story

The Dodge Center Ambulance Service operates two Advanced Life Support (ALS) capable ambulances and 1 Quick Response Vehicle (QRV). We are a part-time ALS, all 911 emergency ambulance service. We have a volunteer staff of 30 EMTs, Paramedics and RN/EMTs. The service is maintained by an Ambulance Director, 3 Full time EMT's, 3 Part time Paramedics, and numerous volunteers! Our Primary Service Area (PSA) covers over 14,000 residents in the cities of Dodge Center, Kasson, Mantorville and Claremont. We also have mutual aid agreements with the ambulance services in Hayfield and West Concord. When responding to emergencies we work closely with the Dodge Center Fire Department, Mantorville Fire Department and the Claremont Fire Department, as they serve as first responders to medical and traumatic emergencies. In addition we also have an outstanding working relationship with the Dodge County Sheriff’s office, their deputies and dispatchers. In the City of Kasson, we enjoy a great working relationship with the Kasson Police Department and their officers as well. We here at the Dodge Center Ambulance Service would not be so successful and professional in the delivery of emergency pre-hospital care without the dedicated help of ambulance staff, or our public safety partners.
