Stronger together 💙

This week, we proudly recognize and thank the dedicated EMS professionals serving our communities during National EMS Week 2026.

Since 1974, National EMS Week has honored the EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, and emergency medical personnel who answer the call at all hours — providing lifesaving care, comfort, and hope during some of life’s most critical moments.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” highlights the strong partnerships between EMS, 911 dispatchers, law enforcement, fire departments, hospitals, and public health agencies — all working together to protect and serve our communities.

Thank you to the members of Dodge Center Ambulance Service, Hayfield Ambulance Service, and West Concord Ambulance Service for your professionalism, compassion, dedication, and countless sacrifices.

On behalf of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office — thank you for always being there when our communities need you most. 🚑🤍

Your Sheriff,

Scott

RURAL WEST CONCORD FIRE - THANK YOU TO ALL AGENCIES WHO RESPONDED

At approximately 11:42 a.m. on April 22, Dodge County Dispatch received a report of a shed fire at a rural property near West Concord.

When deputies arrived, one structure was already heavily involved, and a nearby barn had caught fire. Due to strong winds, the fire quickly spread to multiple buildings—including a hay shed, silos, outbuildings—and into a nearby tree line.

The homeowner reported burning a wood pile the night before. While it appeared extinguished, winds likely reignited embers, causing the fire to spread.

Multiple fire departments from across the region responded, along with EMS, law enforcement, and state agencies. Their coordinated efforts were critical in bringing this fast-moving fire under control.

No injuries to the homeowners were reported. One firefighter was treated on scene for shortness of breath. Crews were on scene for approximately 7 hours, with a brief return later in the evening for a small rekindle.

Fire Safety Reminder: Even when a fire appears completely out, hot spots can remain for hours—or even days. With dry conditions and increasing winds, those embers can quickly reignite and spread.
If you choose to burn, make sure fires are fully extinguished, never leave them unattended, and always be mindful of weather conditions. When in doubt—don’t burn.

A sincere thank you to all agencies who responded. This was a large, fast-moving incident that required a coordinated, multi-agency effort. The largest fire response we've had here in many years. Fire departments, EMS, law enforcement, and state partners worked side-by-side for hours to protect lives and property. Please know your professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to our communities do not go unnoticed.
