April is Autism Awareness Month. Clients from our Medicine Lodge location recognized it during a two-week project.

They created a large 7-by-7-foot puzzle so that everyone could have their very own puzzle piece to decorate in their own unique way. Once the puzzle pieces were decorated, they put the large puzzle back together to display on the wall.
Everyone joined in by wearing blue and learning about autism. They talked about how each puzzle piece was unique, showing that people think, learn, communicate, and experience the world in their own ways.
They plan to enter the puzzle in the Barber County Fair this summer. If you are in Medicine Lodge, try to stop by and see their wonderful creation.

Arrowhead West hosted a “Memory Tree” ceremony in Dodge City, along with the City of Dodge City, to remember our special friends who have passed away since last Arbor Day. This year, we planted an Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry tree in memory of Paula Konrade and Nancy Rowe.
This year marks the 21st anniversary of the Arbor Day tree-planting tradition we have participated in. It is also the 50th Arbor Day celebration that the City of Dodge City has participated in. Once again, we extend our sincere appreciation to the City of Dodge City for its continued collaboration and support of this meaningful event year after year.
